Question

I was giving a service connected rating of 20% on my shoulder, 5 weeks ago I had my second surgery, first since my rating, on my shoulder, I am sure I would have to go through the process again, but can a VA rating be increased? Thanks

 Yes, you can request a rating increase due to the fact that you just had surgery for a service-connected disability. My best advise is to file a VA Form 21-4138 (Statement in Support of Claim) for the increase. You will also want to get a good agency like the VFW, DAV, etc to file the claim on your behalf. These services are good because they are going to have folks who are experienced with filing this type of claim for increase with your regional VA office.

Also make sure to gather all medical records and surgical notes from your operation, because this will help with your claim. If you have any future surgeries, make sure to have all your records (ie, VA forms, medical records and surgical notes) faxed to your regional CA offices the morning or afternoon that they wheel you in for surgery. Once again please have a veterans organization (like the VFW, etc) do the paperwork on your behalf. :o
