Question

So 18 months ago i filled for ptsd, ddd, knee problems and tinitus:

granted 10% for tinnitus, 50% ptsd

the knees and back were denied, due to my smr being destroyed in iraq. i had my primary care dr write a letter regarding my back issues as he has been my family dr since 2000. so i submitted an appeal for the back and an increase for the ptsd as it certianly has gotten worse or i was low balled to begin with. received the letter stating it was received as well as they received the birth certificates for my 2 children. so we shall see what comes of it. do you think they will ask me to come back in for evaul with ro?

Matt, why ask for an increase in the PTSD - why not send a NOD, disagreeing w/their decision, on the PTSD rating, rather than asking for an increase???

Thanks Larry,

Phillip,

Whelp the reason i asked for an increase is b/c my VSO put the packet together last time I went to see him. I will say this forum has been a wealth of knowledge or me, during the troubling time of waiting for the first round too process thru. my vso, is a great guy as well. He is actually one of the troops under my command last time I deployed. luckily i took care of my troops and he is repaying that action. so for that i am greatful.

VARO also denied my claim for shotgun lungs----scarred lungs from breathing gunsmoke, dust, dirt, bacteria, mold, fungus. My records too were destroyed by fire---mine in St. Louis, MO in 1973. The rating specialist claims there is no record in my SMR showing any treatment etc. Be advised in combat infantry up front there is NO SICK CALL, no x ray machines, no dentist, no doctors, not toilets, no beds, etc. If you have a head ache, back ache, stomach ache, dizzy, cough, mental upset etc. You simply call Medic anytime day or nite and you will receive APC's, cough syrup or what ever but unless you are bleeding or have a tramatic injury you are going NO WHERE. I know this for a absolute fact as I was there practically my whole service time and I WAS THE COMBAT MEDIC. One size does not fit all. Some guys crack easily from combat whereas some take combat in stride but do not exactly enjoy it. Do not give up as some of these rating specialist need more training.
