How did the VA compensate retirees 100% IU before CRDP? I always thought the vet would get one or the other pay, not both. And if the VA was more, the Vet gave up retiree pay.

So if IU meets EED, VA comp could be exchanged for retired pay? well with a bit of math. Searching for VBA case showing this.

.......and leave the silly cares that fill my mind behind me

The retiress did just that. Which was more?. Retirement or The Compensation.

Retirement is taxable, Comp is not so most opted for the Comp.

Every $1 in VA disability compensation required a $1 offset to retired pay. Some members had their retired pay "zeroed out" by VA disability compensation, and the only advantage was that VA comp was tax free. Some got all VA and no retired pay, some got all their VA and only some of their retired pay, and some just stuck with retired pay because they thought the VA maze wasn't worth dealing with in order to get a minor tax advantage.

Thanks Bill, after all these years I thought I had it correct. Looks like my comp is likely to be rectroactive more than dfas pay. Over the years I studied the AF times articles about doubledipping (their word - not mine!) so I know CRDP and CRSC is hard earned for all. Just I understand and recieve it now.

Getting my Anas platyrhyncho's together for an upcoming rating. Just hope to keep the feathers on.

Was wondering if sombody can help me also dealing with CRDP I am 100% diable by VA DFAS is telling me that what happen is they take retired pay minus CRDP money and what is left is what is available to ex wife under USFSPA, I ask DFAS where to find this and they said it is a VA deal I e-mailed VA and they said DFAS has it, so starts the Ping Pong game just like to see this in black and white so I do not get burnt later so if retired is 2300-CRDP2800 + -500 so ex will recive nothing
