New Problem For Me....has Anybody Had

I believe any vet who is also eligible for Medicare should get their health issues addressed by private doctors via Medicare and not the VA.

Stretch- I think they caused you psychological harm by not informing you of this problem-

and there have been awards under FTCA for that type of damage. But they are hard to prove.

If the VA has caused you physical damage then that is definitely Sec 1151 and/or FTCA matter-

and there is nothing better then getting a second opinion-for all you know the diagnosis could still be wrong-

Malpractice and negligence always has a papertrail in medical records themselves.

Cover ups as well can become quite evidence in medical records.

I think every vet should certainly study their own medical records.

VA treated me a year ago today- and next week I will learn if they malpracticed on me-

I don't think they did-and hope they didnt- but something cropped up with my real private doctor recently and it has caused me to consider that possibility.

Small clip of the Aneurysm using their measuring tool. I know it is hard to read, but at least it does show the 4.6 cm. The angle doesn't mean anything, because I was just learning the measuring tools.

I got my MRI, and measured the AAA at the widest point. It measured 4.6. Also the MRI shows that the AAA is leaking in places around the Aorta (blood leaking that can cause the back pain). Neuro Doc, said that AAA was not because of the service injury, and that cholesterol and smoking could likely have caused it.

I was right about them trying to minimize it, but I didn't count on them ignoring to tell me about the leaking.

Neurologist and Radiologist remark that I have the injury Stenosis, and DJD in the neck also. I am clear for a neck operation, but am going to think it out first. They also remarked that the DJD in my Lumber and Sacrum are worse than they were at last exam. Also found out I have a cyst in my kidney.

Just when I thought things were going to be better.

I was just connected at 20% for DJD and Stenosis in L-2 through S-1 areas about a week ago.

Sure grateful for Jerrels show this last week. I have to use the archive to hear the first part. I will talk to Kurt about this tomorrow.

stretch,I had a abdominal aortic aneurysm it was in 1992.They repaired it with a daycron(sp)patch.it worked fine until 2002 the aorta started to swell again.THis time the surgeon used a modified stent.i must have looked unbelieving. He pulled a sample out to show me.The one they put in my groin was about 12 in long. The first time recovery took weeks to recover, the second time i was out of bed the next day and home the next ,yes 3 days total.you need a good Vascular surgeon.Dont mess around this thing KILLS.conway twitty, bobby darrin,my dad,i have history.I hope you get moving now.be confident they do this repair quite frequently.

My husband is a nam vet, he had an aneurysm removed, the same time he had a 5 way bybass after a heart attack. It was pretty intense mostly because of the 5 way bypass, but apparently the aneurysm was about to burst so it was kind of lucky really because that really would have been bad.

Either way the doctor told him because of the damage the aneurysm caused the surrounding area etc, his heart probably had about 10-15 years left at a stretch, well lets just say that was 25 years ago an 3 hearts attacks later, diabetes, PTSD, etc etc. and he's still kicking hard as ever...

Yes do your research, find a good doc. My husband has been all over the United States looking for good surgeons, we now travel five hours away to Tucson VA Hospital for all his specialist appointments. This is the best VA Cardiac Hospital anywhere, they really are amazing people, that actually seem to give a damn, best VA hospital I've ever walked into.

Remeber you have a right to a second opinion, and VA has to provide you with that second opinion, if they give you any trouble go to the director's office, worked for us!

Good Luck

just wanted to add, you don't have to wait for the surgery if you want it now, You can make them give it to you, if you have medicare go somewhere else, if you are 100% make them refer you to a surgoen fee-bases (outside surgoen payed for by VA), for a consult second opinion. They weren't going to do my husbands surgery either for the bypass but they did! :-) so just push it, quote patient rights, and the mission statement, they are both pasted all through those VAMC's, works everytime!
