Chloracne

Hello: Ok try this one, I have bumps on my arms neck and cheek bones they come up as white balls and when in dig the core our they are little round hard white balls and leave a scar. I have been to several doctors and none of them will diagnose chloracne. They say unknown bacterial infection and one dermatologist said it was a bacterial infection in my nose and when I touch my nose then my arms it causes the bumps. I filed a claim for this in 87 again in 02 and V. A. states without doctor diagnoses could not help. How do you get a doctor to say what this really is?

You certainly will need an independent medical opinion from a skin disease specialist to determine if this is Chloracne.

However it could be a bacterial infection that has nothing to do with chloracne as one doctor diagnosed already.

The VA recently awarded a AO vet for chloracne and the vet was exposed to AO in Fort Gordon.

I have only seen 4 chlorace awards in 20 years.

Where were you exposed to Agent Orange?

Have you been to a Dermatologist?

They will have to run a couple of lab tests...........see what they can grow in the petri dishes.

Won't be cheap, but, hey, what is cheap these days?

When you filed your claims, did the VA provide a C&P exam for your claim?

If so, what did it say?

The dermatologist is the one who told me it was an infection in my nose. just imagine touching your nose without touching your face but going straight to your arms? The va did not provide a c&p just said i had to provide medical evidence.

I did supply VA a photo of me in nam with a bump on my left sholder, and a current photo of me with the scar on my left sholder from that bump.

this is the problem I cannot find a independent medical opinion for any body who knows anything about this. I took a description of the chloracne to the dermatologist where it says in more severe cases these bumps will appear on arms and cheek bones. I have them on arms cheek bones behind ears. because I don't get them around eyes they discount as not it.

I vividly remember the orange band around center then the bottom burn't off but remained on the top.

His email thing might be open if you click on his profile.

He wants to help other AO veterans.

He not only had to prove direct exposure (you are OK there) but in the USA and then he had to prove he had chlorance and that it was directly due to his exposure in Vietnam.

The pictures you have might well be worth 1,000 words.

after being on several sites about ao symptoms and pictures I am sure this is not chloracne. dosen't even come close to that. However it is in fact Porphyria Cutanea Tarda, of this i am sure. symptoms match only no liver problems that i know of.

bumps get worse in the summer short sleeves and more sunlight.

Now i guess i print all this and off to see the doctor.

Glad I kept that picture of me with bump on sholder.
