How Long!

Rate this question

JOHN1

Question

Filed for iu (and oyher issues, not tbore u) in March 09. The review board has had everything since Dec. 17 09.

Once at the board and ready for a decision per 1-800# is there any reasonable guess as to how much longer?

Also, is it possible to get aletter with decision before the 1-800 shows it?

Thanks

John

It not just possible but likely you will get the decision before the 1-800 number shows it.

This is from my experience. I never call the 1-800 number unless it's totally necessary or if I want to request a fast letter or something.

Otherwise I always check up on my claim via IRIS. With IRIS your question will likely be routed to your RO that's handling your claim so you can get a more accurate update.

There is no way to tell how long you will have to wait for a decision because your claim is at the rating board. It could be more than a few months. Just check on your claim every few weeks to see if anything is missing.

JOHN1,

Don't depend on being able to track the status of your claim

with the 800 people, they can't do it accurately.

I guess you will have an answer within

1 - 36 months.
