Question

I have 30% on PTSD. The VA also gave me a CPAP machine for my Sleep Apnea but is trying to tell me my Sleep Apnea is not service related. How do I get this changed? Do I need to get an IMO or what do I do? I talked to someone else who does not even have PTSD and he has 50% for Sleep Apnea and 30% for razor bumps? You have got to be kidding me! So he has 80% and no combat and I have PTSD and supposedly a non service connected Sleep Apnea and only 30% total disability. I need to know if I need a VA lawyer or what. I am in San Antonio, TX. Thanks in advance.

Why is the VA telling you your sleep apnea is not service related and why do you think it should be service related? Do you have medical evidence that supports that it should be service connected?

Everyone's situation is different.

Mooshi,

In the Rating Decision that denied SA what does it state in the Reasons and Bases Section?

How do I get this changed? Do I need to get an IMO or what do I do?

Mooshi,

It depends on your answer to the above - an IMO is usually helpful,

that is, if the IMO doc relates the SA directly to you and your conditions,

and the military, not just the public in general.

I talked to someone else who does not even have PTSD and he has 50% for Sleep Apnea and 30% for razor bumps?

Mooshi,

You don't have to have PTSD to get SC'd for SA.

PTSD - to my knowledge is not a medical causation of SA,

but I am not a doctor.

You have got to be kidding me! So he has 80% and no combat and I have PTSD and supposedly a non service connected Sleep Apnea and only 30% total disability.

A veteran does not have to have combat service to recieve SC'd disability.

jmho,
