Awaiting Rating Decision

Rate this question

Fire Courage

Question

I went to the RO today to get a claim update for my PTSD and right knee increase. The lady turned the screen around to me so I could see and the huge words "Awaiting Rating Decision" jumped out at me. I haven't even had a C&P for my claim of PTSD yet.

I guess they don't need one. I do have a PTSD diagnosis and I signed a release for them to get my Vet Center notes.

I think I may have to NOD a low-ball rating. We'll see. :)

they do NOT normally rate a claim for PTSD until after the stressors have been verifed and a C&P exam are done, it has been done before without them but that is not the NORMAL procedure I would not get my "hopes" up on getting a rating until I see the paperwork you could just be setting yourself for a great big fall when dealing with the VARO expect nothing and then you won't get disappointed if you get a grant then you can celebrate I wouldn't do it ahead of time the depression that comes with a denial is tremendous just remember to appeal appeal and appeal until you get the award you think is the right one do not just give up and quit because they either say no or lowball the award

Great...... I have a appeal for PTSD in the works, I went to a IMO MHP and visited the MHP 8 times got a diagnosis, of PTSD with a 40 GAF. I have had a C&P last year for the original denial. a year ago. Is it standard procedure to have another C&P exam even though you have a diagnosis from a Mental Health Professional ?

Any chance 2-6 , 50-50 or they will schedule another PTSD C&P ?

I am in the waiting mode.......

Well, I saw for myself on the screen that it said "Awaiting Rating Decision". Just last week it was in the development stages.

I don't think I'm setting myself up for a fall. Thats why I said I may have to NOD a low rating. I'm expecting it. :)

I have been appealing VA decisions since 1995 so I know how they can be.

Oh yeah. My stressor is a CAR along with a few other stressors.

Testvet,

You were right. They scheduled me for a PTSD C&P. I had it this past wednesday. I have the CAR, but we discussed 2 stressors I experienced during the war and how they affect me today. Was that to determine the level of PTSD?
