If the formal Notice of Disagreement was filed on or after June 20, 2007 you can get a lawyer.

They don't have to reside in the same state that you do.They do have to be fully accredited with the VA to represent VA claimants.

I don't think you would need a lawyer for the pension claim-they have not denied that claim and it is still pending- from what I see here.

The direct Service connected death claim could be continued after they award a pension, and that would be good to have a lawyer handle.

Did he get any consistent medical care from the VA itself?

If so did the vet rep look into a Section 1151 potential?
