I have know several who have had graves disease and I really believe it is caused by environment. Friends from my kids parents who husband and wife got it. I know two sets of married couples who got it at same time and the most famous George and Barbara Bush both got it when they lived in Vice President mansion.

Berta,

I have had Hypothyroidism for many years and take my pill each morning. I was surprised to see that Hypo was not shown in this study. People would be amazed at what the Thyroid actually controls in ones body. I stopped taking my pill for only three days and it was not pretty.

yeah i was dia with graves disease in 95 and couldn' t understand where i got it until i read the study from the u of b in ny. it sure screwed me up. not that i wasn't allready. the thyroid runs your whole body and now being hypo and taking synthyroid if the amount of it is right and youlose some weight you get hyper and they adjust it you go hypo you gain and apnea and feet and blood pressure and every thing with being fat kicks in.
