Question

First,I want to thank all the posters on this site.I have been reading as much as I can on this site for the past year and have learned so much.

I was finally diagnosed with ptsd from the va.They have been treating me for depression since 1994.My question is should I file for non-combat or combat related depression/ptsd? My stressor for non-combat is easier to prove and is irrefutable.Does it make a difference in benefits which one I file for?

They say that they have made changes and it will be easier but my opinion is if VA has been treating you for depression all you really need is a Doc to link it to when you served and you will be awarded the same as you would for PTSD Combat or non combat.

Good Luck

A confirmed stress-er is always a big factor to have. You already have part of the main claim done. (dx's of PTSD) with a confirmed stress-er, it makes your case much stronger. My opinion, is to go with the confirmed dx of ptsd with a confirmed stress-er.
