Percentage Calculation After Succesful Appeal

Question

In February, I received a letter notifying me that my PTSD appeal had finally been decided in my favor. I was back paid to October of 2007. However instead of recalculating the original percentage rating to include 30%, the VA only calculated it based on the 50% remaining so my rating only increased by 10%. Is this correct? I thought if they back paid me to the original claim date, then the original percentage would have to be recalculated too. (My original rating was 50%, it is now 60%)

Yeah, that's how they calculate the %. Check out the quick link for the calculator on the main page. You can see how it works. I've heard it refered to as VA Fuzzy Math. I now understand it, just don't care for it. Never-the-less, congrats on the decision
