Pay Taxes?

teejay53

Question

hi all;

hope everyone had a nice holiday.

well, i have any other question that i have look all over the internet and found no answer to.

i found the following on the social security web site:

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Your benefits may be taxable

Some people who get Social Security will have to pay taxes on their benefits. Less than one-third of our current beneficiaries pay taxes on their benefits.

You will have to pay taxes on your benefits if you file a federal tax return as an “individual” and your total income is more than $25,000.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

my ss survivor benefit check and dic check added together is a hair over $25,000 each year. in your opinion, do i have to pay taxes on it?

i thought both were tax exempt ... i am confused, so what is new.

i thank all for your help with this.

No the VA DIC is not countable if your income is over 25,000 and than social security is taxable over that amount but on a special rate that is lower than the regular.

From your statement you would not have to pay taxes.
