Active Duty With Menier's

Question

I am looking to see if anyone has gone through what I am about to, so I can have an idea of what’s to come. A little background, I’m an active duty Air Force TSgt and I’m coming up on my 15 year mark. For the past 3 years I’ve been experiencing worsening hearing loss in my left ear along with attacks of vertigo that come with tinnitus or almost total hearing loss in my left ear. I just recently got diagnosed with Meniers’s Disease by an off base ENT specialist, something that I have known for quite some time. Right now I’m trying the low sodium diet, but it’s having little effect. My doctor on base is saying that if the symptoms don’t improve, I may face a board to be medically retired. I’m a little worried about this because I have 1-2 attacks a week and don’t think I’ll be able to hold down a civilian job very well if I get out. So here’s my question, has anyone been diagnosed while in the military and if so, what type of ratings did you get? Was it still hard to get a service connection with the VA? Did anyone get Social Security as well? I know it’s a few questions, but any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
