Is there any loopholes in the VA system to get RX's filled that are written by our private MD's?

Why can't you tell your VA doctor that your private doctor wrote a prescription and ask that it be filled by VA for financial reasons. I do this and have had no problems.

JMO,

Bergie

Thanks Bergie for the comeback. I'm pretty sure the VA doc won't fill a perscription of oxycontin. But I'll still try it.

You might want to try and visit your VA PCP (or referral to a VA specialist) to see if they would write a script for it. That might work, unless like me, some meds you take are not on the VA formulary.

I read where they call oxycontin "hillbilly heroin". The VA would not prescribe it for me. I think it depends on cost. They will dispense morphine and methadone because it is cheap.

I had my other insurance fill VA medications when a co-pay was issued for non service connection medication. I asked the doctor to write the script, took it to my on base pharmacy and got it for free. Now that I'm 50% they can't tack on co-payments-they tried twice in the last few months- after letting them know they to verify my current disability, they gave in.
