SUBJ: Filipino Veterans Equity Compensation Claims

Purpose

To establish procedures for processing Filipino Veterans Equity Compensation (FVEC) claims.

Background

On February 17, 2009, the President signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, Public Law 111-5. Section 1002 of the act (see enclosure 1) authorizes payments to eligible Filipino Veterans through the Filipino Veterans Equity Compensation Fund (FVEC). Eligible Filipino Veterans are entitled to one-time payments of $9,000 for non-United States citizens and $15,000 for Filipino Veterans with U.S. citizenship.
