Ptsd, Hardship, And Confusion

Question

My husband filed a claim in Jan 2010. On his 3rd Therapist for PTSD (now with a reffered pvt. PTSD specialist) and as of Nov. 5 the claim was tagged ready to rate and suposedly yesterday the ratings lady requested his file.

We are about to loose our home, vehicles, utilities, etc. Santa is "having trouble with his sleigh and coming late"( In all the years helping with Toys for Tots we never expected our children to be in need of such a program). We read on here about a hardship and filed our eviction notice with the claims counselor today. I called the TAP line and informed them of the new therapists statements regarding the exam and her contact info. I was crying so im not sure exactly what she did but she said she will get the info to someone.

I Emailed our claims counselor and asked how long it takes to process the hardship and how long after that the claim will be solved. He did not reply. Does anyone know? He said it should be finnished "before maturing to 12 months" but due to his new therapy schedule of 2+ times a month he is missing a lot of work and through further unforseen circumstances we face dispossesory action on the 10th. We are not looking for a handout by any means just help suplementing his lost income from therapy. Also in a PTSD claim is only the one QTC appointment considered in a rating? ANY ADVICE IS WELCOME!!!!!

I can't help you with the VA part as I have yet to run the gauntlet. A little short term help my come from one of your local veterans service organizations.Your husband was USMC so look for a Marine Corps League Detachment in your area. Most veterans service organizations try to help even if it is only a little. It's not considered a hand out but something earned. Marine corps league has a Natioal web site and most states have state sites. You from there can usually get the name and number of the commandant in your area if there is one. The help my not be a lot, but if available accept it and remember, even though it is not required, you can always pay if forward when your situation improves. Most locals have a VFW, American legion, or DAV. I hope someone here can help you with your VA issue.

I am also sorry to read of your hardships.

I am by no means any type of VA Counselor or Officer, but are you close enough to visit you

local Regional Office?

Maybe if you presented your letter of hardship with proof, someone would be able to check

on your husband's claim and not remove it from the rater.

Like I said, this is only what I did and have done in the past.

One VA employee told me the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Always,

Betty

"Also in a PTSD claim is only the one QTC appointment considered in a rating?"

If this was a C & P exam the VA will rest heavily on the results of that C & P.Have you requested a copy of this exam?

It looks as though his claim will fall under the new PTSD regulations.

Does he have a VA PTSD diagnosis yet?

Did his stressor meet the stressor requirements? The new regs are here in the PTSD forum.

Did he have CAR, PH,or CIB on his DD 214?

Does he have proof if needed of his stressor?

"On his 3rd Therapist for PTSD (now with a reffered pvt. PTSD specialist" ?????

Do you mean VA referred him to a private therapist????

I dont understand that at all.

Before they referred him did they (VA) give him a diagnosis of PTSD?
