Question

I sent my NOD letter in on Monday, along with evidence (copies of the specific info of my medical records) to prove my conditions. When should I contact the VA to see if they received the NOD? I already know they received it, because I sent it FedEX, & it was received on Wed. I just want an actual person to tell me it is in the system or at least they have it. I don't want to wait a 6 months & then they say, we never received it. EBenefits doesn't even show my initial rating or anything, so I doubt my appeal would eventually show up there. How long should I wait to make sure they received my info or should I call them now, since I already know it was signed for?

It sounds like you have it figured out.

This is precisely the VA's MO: Sign a receipt that they received it, make you wait 6 months to 2 years, and then say, "We did not get it".

I would give it a month, and if it does not show up in ebenefits, then send an IRIS inquiry.

I forgot to ask do I contact the main VA 1-800 # or my local VA where they did the rating; to ask if they receieved my NOD & dependent paperwork?

I would send an IRIS email. Then print the email's acknowledgement of your NOD.

Thanks. How do you do that? I've never even heard of an IRIS email. I only know about the phone.
