Thought I would add my timeline to the discussion. Elapsed time, so far: 802 days.

Indy VARO timeline (Initial Claim):

8/16/2010

Claim Filed

8/16 – 8/31/2010

Under Review

8/31/2010 – 10/12/2012

Gathering of Evidence

10/12 – 10/17/2012

Preparation for Decision

10/17 – 10/19/2012

Pending Decision Approval

10/19/2012

Call from VARO, informed rating of 70% with one item deferred, and backdated

to 7/18/2010 (day after separation). Caller stated that retro payments over $25k

required additional review, and verified dependent and direct deposit info.

10/22/2012

Received informal letter from DAV stating same info as discussed

during VARO call.

10/24/2012

Returned to Pending Decision Approval

I had been used to it setting in the gathering dust stage for so long, it surprised me when there was movement. I didn't let myself get excited about it, at first. Then I got my hopes up when the VA lady called me last Friday and the letter followed from DAV Monday. Although I knew it was normal for claims to go back and forth online, it was still a big disappointment to see it happen.

Pending Decision approval is the signature phase of the claim by the VSCM,

Depending on the ampount of retro, the number of signatures is different. I thinkl it requires 2 for 25K.

bbow, I agree with everybody else. It sounds like you are getting very close to being done. Good luck on your rating, your retro and your health. Thanks for your service!
