Question

Fellow vets, hello.

I have diabetes 20%, bilateral neuropathy both hands and legs 10,10,10,10%.

Would these disabilites be regarded as '1' service connected at 60% for consideration of IU?

Awating C&P for PTSD.

Thanks for your input. Vietvet

Also have tinnitus @10%.

Hello vietvet:

I believe that your actual rating is 52.7608% which is rounded down to 50% using the VA calculator.

Thank you for your service.

At best your ratings total 53%, which is rounded down to 50%, using the combined ratings table. http://cfr.vlex.com/vid/4-25-combined-ratings-table-19774341 I, personally doubt you could qualify for TDIU based on those disabilities, at present. Sorry! jmo

If you're currently receiving payment at 60%, then you've left something out, such as bilateral factor(s).

The PTSD C & P could possibly put you at or over 70% and the VA will either make a statement as to an enclosed TDIU form (21-8940) with the decision or tell you why they didn't consider you for potential TDIU and then you will have the keys you need to apply for TDIU.

Remember VA decisions hold keys and clues.

Is your PTSD nexus solid and does it comply with the August 2010 new PTSD criteria which is in our PTSD forum?

Berta, thank you.

I am currently working with a new Vet Center in Fl. My nexus is solid and was written by a VA licensed clinical social worker/MAC.

He strongly suggested that I receive TDIU in his report. Also I am currently being prescribed medication for my PTSD.

I would try to get an opinion / letter of support from a higher pedigree

and

for vba purposes, a strong suggestion that someone receive TDIU will most likely fall on deaf ears

and result in a denial - if full medical rationale is not provided to support a

medical opinion of unemployability, due solely to SC'd disabilities.

Try to get it right the first time prior to submitting it haphazardly, it will be better

in the long run.
