I am so lost with anyone from the VA knowing anything about this. They have told me that if I begin work my IU stops immediately. How do I go about trying to us the 38 uscs section 1163. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Who told you that your IU would stop immediately? You are correct, you should be able to use 38 1163. You couldn't make substantially gainful earnings for a 12 month period. However, you do want to carefully weigh the risks and benefits of working. With some conditions, even working some could show that your condition isn't as bad as they rated it at. This doesn't seem to be the case with your conditions. But they shouldn't stop your IU the moment you start working. But you do want to carefully consider the risks and benefits of doing marginal employment, or trying to do substantial work.
