Effective Date Of Issue On Appeal

Rate this question

Question

Good Morning!

Am I correct in assuming that the effective date of an item on appeal would be the date the VARO received the appeal? Or, is it the date of the original decision? I'm trying to find this but just can't seem to....

Thanks, PR. I believe I filed the original after an interim request for increase, but I'd have to look back at the records.

Just another question: I received a note that my remanded GERD appeal was now with a DRO and that the other two issues on appeal were only added to the database in August. No action taken yet on these, yet these are the bigger issues on deck. Does it make sense that the VARO would actually try to resolve the low-hanging fruit before triggering the larger, more complex issues?

Also, the reason I asked the initial question is that the Psoriatic Arthritis claim was initiated 9 years ago. My initial ratings are only 8 months out from hitting the 10 year mark.

First of all, nothing the VA does makes sense. It is likely "to me" that he VA would decide the earlier claim first, as each is a separate claim in itself. jmo
