Can I Dispute Entries In Health Records

Question

I had an argument with my VA Nurse 'millie'. She refused to fill out a 1 page form by saying 'she did not have time to sit around and do paperwork all day'. This was after I was told to make an appointment to get it done, which I did. I was angry and asked her why she did not have time to do her job. She kept trying to send me 60 miles away to get someone else to fill out the paperwork that had to be signed by my Doctor. So three trips down to the VA and she won't do it.

I was reading my VA health History on myhealthevet and she wrote that I kept yelling at her. I did not, I was insistent though. I finally asked to have a different Nurse and Doctor assigned. This was done. But, now this crap is in my record.

I have applied for PTSD and they should be aware of this. My Psy tells me I have anger issues and to read Chapter 6 in the PTSD Book which I did. Not much help that I could find.

Can I write a response and have it entered on record, or should I let it go and move on?

Is not anger part of PTSD?

I threw the form away in anger so I don't remember what the number was. It was about linking high blood pressure to PTSD.

Try reverse psychology. If you are having PTSD symptoms, the comments in your records could work to your advantage as to your quality of life, frustration and pain issues I use my healthe vet to send my docs email. Sometimes I cut loose on them because I think they are dragging their feet or not taking popper care of me. Sometimes they write back that there are always other docs in the system and if I don't like them, choose another provider. This just shows that they're overworked, have too many patients, are angry with you etc. I later find these comments as part of my permanent file and use them to point out inattentive care or lack of attention to care. They can work to you advantage. They show your frustration, you decrease of quality of life, your depression and impatience. Try not to get personal or name call etc.

Thank you for the encouragement, that is more than I get at the VA.

Funny, They have in bold letters "thank you for your Service" above the appointment desk. I wish they really meant it. It is just a saying like 'how you doing' now. Meaning is lost somewhere.

Sorry Nurse Ratchet is giving you such a problem! Ran into something similar, my VA PCP didn't want to fill out FMLA/Disability plate/placard forms, said the specialist should do that, the specialist said the primary should do that.

I also understand, the concern of the record "not being correct", but unless they have put a flag on your file they will probably never read it! Reading past medical notes is just to time consuming!

It is this type of "excellent care" that makes me often ponder the Meaning of "On Behalf of a Grateful Nation" as intoned at military funerals. Is the Nation grateful it will no longer need to provide care or compensation? Seems if a lot better job was done for living vets and the families of fallen soldiers, this platitude would no longer be necessary. I for one would prefer my widow(when the time comes) be given the benefits she is due, rather than a flag and a hollow assurance that the nation is grateful!
