Anyone Here Actually Rated More Than 0% For Hearing Loss?

Question

My wife was sick and tired of repeating herself so she insisted I go to the VA. It was no secret that my hearing was bad. Failed tests at work every year. I worked on the flight deck of a carrier from 88'.-92'. SO I went.

I did some research online and it seems that a vet rated higher then 0% for hearing loss is as rare as hens teeth.

I was actually denied for my hearing even though I show hearing loss within the VA criteria. It seems that My exit hearing test in 1992 showed no hearing loss..... I don't recall taking an exit test.

Has anyone here actually been successful in claiming hearing loss and got a rating higher than 0%?

look, if you meet the criteria for HL the VA will award it to you. yes, it is difficult, however, if you are in need of hearing aides, the VA will provided them to you. But you have to prove that you had a HL while on active duty and hearing tests results will provided that information. If you did not have a hearing test when you exited the service, you can still file base upon your job while on active duty. I've seen VA go both ways on those decisions.

You should file for depression for the severe hearing loss. Were they actually going to send you back to the infantry with hearing aides?

I did 3 years with hearing aids. Infantry will let you hurt yourself till you open your own eyes. Lol. They once made me run two miles for a pt test with 16 fresh stitches in my knee.

But yes I've already filed for depression and anxiety.

Such a battle.

Again. Fight for that 0% for hearing loss. Its slmost a financial blessing in disguise. While I'd much rather have my hearing back any day of the week.

Just like every person in the world we lose hearing as we age.

You lock in a 0 percent eating at 30 years old and you will surely have higher percentages as the years pass.

Its one of the few disabilities that peactically guaranteed to worsen and never improve

Duly noted asknod.

I personally belueave that anyone with significant hearing loss has depression.

Sometimes I almost want to cry when cashiers at stores look at me like an idiot because I don't here them say cancel or push green button.

I could go on and on.

My medical records show depression due to hearing loss back while in service.

I agree with you that some just barely have hearing loss and receive 0%. These guys should probally not be claiming depression if the va did a fair job on evaluating that zero percent.

Like I said I was zero percent back in the early 2000s.

Nowadays I can't even follow a movie at the theater.

It gets worst over time. There will be depression unless your made of stone.
