Denied On Depression.

Question

Just got off the phone with my DAV POA, in which he informed me I was denied. He explained they looked at it as a single traumatic event or diagnoses from the military, not as a secondary to my TBI, in which my mental health practitioner clearly stated and which I have 45 pages of supporting evidence stating exactly that. The rep from the DAV told me it was written up wrong. He is talking with the rater as we speak to change it. I'm pretty upset.

Yes. That's what I was informed. The way it was explained was that a decision was made by a rater but that it had to be double checked for accuracy internally by a senior member at the VA. A Quality check done by the VA on themselves if that makes sense?

So is this an automatic occurrence when someone files a letter of reconsideration? Should I feel good about this considering my rep (who I don't think has been exactly fourth right) seems to think the denial was an obvious error and the speed of which it posted on e-benefits (4 days after my denial)?

It is a random automatic occurrence. Not sure exactly how or why they select cases/claims to do a quality audit on. I'm afraid this is just another one of the wonderful mysteries of the VA and its' operating procedures we deal with. Sorry I can't give you more to go on but this is all I know on the subject. Good Luck Philgrenier.
