That House bill is ten years old.

DFAS info is current:

http://www.dfas.mil/retiredmilitary/disability/payment.html

And CRDP CRSC is well explained at Military.com:

http://www.military.com/benefits/military-pay/special-pay/combat-related-special-compensation.html

They have discussion there in the Mil.com forums as well as here at hadit on CRDP /CRSC

Meg is right and you are right Proudvet ...the ten years are up..maybe this is a more current Mil.com explanation:

http://www.military.com/NewContent/0%2C13190%2CRN_080305_Receipt%2C00.html

and “Concurrent Retirement and Disability Payment (CRDP) Program

This program provides a 10-year phase-out of the offset to military retired pay due to receipt of VA disability compensation. The phase-out will be complete in 2014. Qualified individuals are those who are retired active or reserve members who are currently entitled to retired pay and who also have a combined VA disability rating of 50% or greater. Members retired under military disability provisions (Chapter 61 to title 10 United States Code) must have at least 20 years of service. CRDP is a restoration of retired pay and subject to all the same laws and regulations as retired pay. A brief program description follows”::

http://militarypay.defense.gov/retirement/concurrent_dod_va.html

(I wonder if that will get snafued like part of the original CRDP/CRSC program did.....but It should be pretty cut and rdried by now.)

I fall into this category. Although I rate the benefit under the law they continue to make me wait...and wait...and wait. Seems like the answer's always the same, much like getting retro pay.

Their answer: sorry, you rate this payment under the law but since your already receiving compensation payments we want to focus on the backlog and pay people for claims who are not yet receiving monetary benefits first.

Believe me, I've tried every avenue known to mankind but I've been stonewalled. All I can do is wait and hope to see the $$ before I die. To those like me who are waiting...let's hope the VA gets to us sooner...than later.

All of this interesting, My son is looking to be medical discharged this Feb. with 19.5 years in the Air Force giving him 20 years of service. He is being MD due his depression and other medical problems. He did tried to comment suicide and was placed in a mental health hospital. Once he was released several months later he was back in for 3 weeks. My question is? When he is medical discharged can he draw both his retirement and his VA once he applies for it?

Thanks
