Combat Related Severance Pay Tax Ed

Question

I received medical severance pay from an injury in a combat zone.y paperwork said it is tax free as per secretary of defense code blah blah. My question is how do I get the taxed portion back only income tax return. they taxed over 20 grand and I've called tax places and no one knows how

I have helped fellow severance guys. If you go to a well known tax service like H&R Block or Jackson Hewitt, they know how to do it. My good friend has owned a Jackson Hewitt for 15 years, and he helps veterans all the time. You just have to have a copy of your DD-214 showing you were medically discharged with Severance.
