Aortic Aneurysm

Question

My father had a Aortic aneurysm repaired in 2005.

I was reading the Schedule for rating disabiliies and it says A rating of 100 percent shall be assigned as of the date of admission for surgical correction. Six months following discharge, the appropriate disability rating shall be determined by mandatory VA examination.

He never got any compensation for the surgery.

He called the VA and they said that he can put in a claim as far back as he wants.

My question is Aortic aneurysm service connected?

Does it matter?

Thanks.

His PCP has him diagnosed with Hypertension, Essential and Hypertension NOS

And his records say he has had past history of Hypertension, Essential.

After his current claim is finished he's going to put it a claim for the AA.
