SMC without Disability Pay?

Rate this question

Question

I am trying to figure out some information. Is it possible to have Special Monthly Compensation WITHOUT Disability pay? I was under the impression that you got both or you just got disability pay, but never SMC by itself.

The SMC Table rates include the Disability payment amount plus the SMC payment.

YOU MIGHT CAN GET A SMC PAYMENT WITHOUT A CURRENT PAY DISABILITY...I think they figure this to be a temporary  payment and under special circumstances only.  its not called SMC.

I had always figure like asknod link he put up  and chuck75 post to be correct on the SMC Pay rate table  but the VA does have special circumstance payment...I can't remember the CFR's  but I seem to have read about it a long time ago and can't remember the CFR#??

with SMC  a veteran can get both DISABILITY PAY UP TO THE 100% Rate

and anything that is rating over 60% then that makes him/her eligible to meet the criteria  for the SMC Pay rates.

Usually the 60% over the 100% is a SMC-S rating, the more or higher the rating on the disability the more you claim up the SMC  Latter.

so to answer your question  yes  a S.C. Disabled veteran can get disability pay and the SMC Pay at the same time.
