Question

Hello My Fellow Veterans, I have secondary conditions due to surgery. I had (Service Connected) surgery on my right foot. The doctor had me wear a special boot on my right foot for over 6 months, Now my Left knee is in pain from wearing uneven and different shoes and my right knee is in pain from the way I am walking because of the surgery. I am already (SC) for my Left and Right Knees.  Can and should I file for (Service Connected) Secondary conditions being aggravated due to conditions caused by the Service Connected surgery?  And how should I file for it? Thank You

Yes, if you feel that the surgery made the SC knees ratable at a higher rate than you have now.

I would file as secondary, and aggravation of the SC knees.

I have a foot condition (severe pronation) that my podiatrist said could not be resolved by surgery ( I had been hoping he would say it could) but that was years ago and I learned that surgery can often have too many other residuals.

If I were you I would carefully go over the ratings you have now for the knees and then see if yout medical evidence will fit you into higher ratings.  Foot conditions can affect the hips and back as well.

I hope you get a good C & P doctor. My neighbor had problems after SC knee  replacements and had a heck of a time convincing the VA he needed orthotics. Finally he got them.
