    Don Cook

July 29, 1952 - February 29, 2000 A brother to us all, always there to lend a hand and ease the pain a bit. We honor Don for who he was, those that were touched by Don's life were indeed lucky. I consider blessed in the time I knew Don and he was a comfort to me and others on more than one occasion. Rest well brother you've earned it.
  3. In Loving Memory of Colonel Gore Roberts 1912 - 1999 It is difficult to lose a comrade, difficult to say goodbye, difficult to rejoice in knowing that in shifting off this mortal coil he is in a better place. It is difficult for us left behind, but rejoice we must. Rejoice in our friendship however, brief. Our lives were made just a bit better, a bit more interesting, a bit more insightful in knowing this man. Rejoice in knowing that as he released his hold on this life; God embraced him into eternal life and he will live forever in our hearts. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Meg Roberts with your thoughts and prayers.
  4. Alex Humphries i do not have alex's birthdates or death dates, what i do have is a memory of a man who gave to his brothers and sisters here at hadit.com and in his personal life. i miss him.
  5. I use to have a page up on the site for Fallen Comrades, but alas it got trashed in our last crash. and thanks wings for reminding me about it, i have a stack of stuff to do and somethings as wings rightly stated that should be at the top had got shifted to the bottom. as i pondered this, i realized that a page on the main site was not the best choice, but a forum for our brothers and sisters that have gone on before us is a better way to do this, so that is what i've done.
  6. many of you may not remember alex, but i do, he's been with us a long time, and always a positive addition to the board, what he choose to do with his life has always been an inspiration for me. it is very tough loss for many of us.
  7. i'm always working the site, this year i have much to do and i am going at but slowly, can't work those 16 hours day to much anymore - brain drift gets in my way

  12. thanks nek i am thinking about using a program called instant demo located at http://www.instant-demo.com i need to run it on a pc, but it does save in a small format and has lots of other features, i have to figure out a pc to install it on i have a mac and have not found mac software that seems to do as good a job as instant demo. it's a bit pricey, but i think it's worth it, and i could buy a low priced pc notebook to run it on - but got to wait a bit before i purchase. check it out and let me know what you think.
  13. there is a difference between IU and schedular - iu means unemployable and that is that. 100% rating for mental disabilities based on the Schedule for Rating Disabilities it seems that you can not work or you wouldn't be a 100% and i am only talking about mental disorders not physical here is the text from the schedule for rating disabilities that states criteria for a rating of 100% for mental disorders and here's a link to the Rating Schedule Schedule for Rating Disabilities General Rating Formula for Mental Disorders: Total occupational and social impairment, due to 100 such symptoms as: gross impairment in thought processes or communication; persistent delusions or hallucinations; grossly inappropriate behavior; persistent danger of hurting self or others; intermittent inability to perform activities of daily living (including maintenance of minimal personal hygiene); disorientation to time or place; memory loss for names of close relatives, own occupation, or own name
  14. congratulations glad we could be of assistance.
  15. that is great news, i would wait and get the money in the bank and then you can figure out your retro - i always say if you have a retro coming get the money in the bank and then ask the questions. my two cents.
  16. when you make a post that may be a possible trigger for folks dealing with depression, ptsd, mst, etc, can you add the words Possible Trigger to the post topic thanks
  17. hated it, sold all my pc's and bought a mac, i've never been happier i've been on pc's since the late 80's but i love my mac, i bought the extended warranty, for me this is a good choice. i've had to call them a couple of times once i got disconnected and get this they called me back in just a few minutes, now that impressed me. also i got some one on one training but waiting for my niece to take me. i agree with you completely on not upgrading old hardware i've done both came new on a machine and installed on a machine that was about a year old, trouble with that, but the one out of the box worked well for me for awhile. i used vista vista business vista premium vista ultimaticum all previous versions since the beginning i started with dos, i just had nothing but problems, but so far with the mac no day after day problems, strange crashes and various other things. i was a dedicated windows person, but not anymore

  19. nek - welcome aboard! i'm tbird the webmaster for this site and i am here to tell you that many of us have been where you are. a good point was made about the girlfriend becoming your wife and doing it if you trust her, perhaps when you go to see the pysch doctor the c and p examiner set up for you, you can ask him for a referral to a social services person or therapist someone you can talk it out with that is sort of removed from the whole process. i am blessed i have several nieces and nephews that help me with just about everything except the website. i often tell them i am a one trick pony - i can do the website, but day to day life not so good. i am hoping someone who has gone through this will chime in with some advice or experience with the whole situation. again welcome aboard brother.
  20. hey thanks for that information, i've always thought triage probably didn't pay much attention to that. though there are others that feel that happens to a lot of veterans, i must say that things are very different than when i filed back in 1991, that whole process left me and many others paranoid and we experienced some real screwed up behavior from many va personnel and service officers. thanks again for that info, it's always good to have insight.
  21. yoggie i think you find the information below helpful GAF Scale Veterans Benefits Manual 2002 from The National Veterans Legal Services Program In conducting psychiatric examinations, VA psychiatrists and other VA mental health medical examiners use the Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF) to evaluate the veteran's overall psychological, social, and occupational functioning. The GAF is a numerical assessment that employs a scale of 1 to 100. 23. jo ann - ptsd is very hard to prove and ptsd because of mst is even harder, if the report never got recorded it makes it very tough, wings has a lot of good suggestions for you. i also did a search on hadit.com for other posts about mst and you browse through it here mst this is the dilemma for many mst veterans both men and women who either reported and the report went to the perpetrator or no report was filed. the va claim is harder to prove than say social security, va needs the connection and then requires proof that it happened. i know that folks will chime on idea's to prove your claim. i know men and women who have walked this road and were successful in finding supporting evidence, but it was tough. if you don't have a therapist who you can talk to i encourage you to try and get one either from the va or your local veterans center, going through the claims process can cause all kinds of triggers and it is good to have a professional to talk with. tbird ps i added possible trigger to your subject, so that other mst veterans know before they read your posts, sometimes reading through someone else's trauma can trigger someone else's ptsd.
  24. here is a link to a hadit.com search for PTSD you may want to just browse through it and see if any of it helps. PTSD
  25. welcome aboard iraq2, i know the frustration and the anger you feel about the va that is after all what got me to start this site some 11 years ago. if you are not see a therapist get one, try the local veterans center, i like going there better than going to the va hospital. if you need to get into any other support groups aa, na, ga whatever get to the meeting. you can get through this even if it's just 15 minutes at a time, lots of us been there, find an outlet for your anger, personally i broke a lot of phones, used a baseball bat on sturdy work table and screaming at the top of my lungs while driving, let it out, move on to the next 15 minutes, try to use your military training your mission is to get the all the compensation you are entitled to, and stay mission focused as much as possible. brother it's a hard road to walk, but it is not impossible and you are not alone. welcome home tbird
