  1. This is just the start of your HL claims. You are now rated at 0% so the only way you can go is up. I was rated 0% for 10 years before I finally got rated at 30%. Don't know how old you are but your hearing is going to get a lot worse. You can appeal it or go to an outside audio doc. If you do go outside the test must be done to VA standards. So read up on 4.85 and 4.86.

  4. Killemall Don't know why you shouldn't get it. I have never applied for SSDI as I am now 70 and I doubt that I would get anymore than I am getting now. I am currently waiting on the VA to give me a rating for my residuals to prostate cancer and a reconsideration I filed for peripheal neuropathy. They did a review on my PC on the 8th of Sept. and as of yesterday on ebenefits it is pending notification. Funny how they can get something done so quick when they want to reduce you. I am currently rated 30% for HL and I took one of my hearing aids to the VA last week because it broke in half when I was taking it out. Anyway, the audiologist said I need an updated hearing test. I am going for that on the 8th. I'll let you know how that goes.
  5. Well I had the C & P yesterday and was told it was a review. She was also surprised that I had not received any notification. Anyway, she asked what my current treatment was and what kind of residuals I had. I told her everything she asked for. I did not embellish anything or add anything or leave anything out. She said I would be notified in about a month. I am sure it is a proposal to reduce as I have been at 100% for PC for almost 2 years. I am 50% without the PC and I think I'll probably be 100% TDIU (she asked if I was working, I am not). I currently have a reconsideration filed for PN as well. I'll update when I hear from them
  6. Theteuful Based on my calculations you may get 30% for HL. I would file a claim if I were you. I don't know about the headaches, but the trouble sleeping is an issue with tinnitus. You can get rated for depression due to the tinnitus. You can purchase noise generators that produce white noise or wave sounds. They will mask the tinnitus and hopefully help you sleep. I was part of a study the VA did on tinnitus and they had me use some of that stuff. I have had it for over 40 years and it is extremely loud. They say when you have hearing aids it will reduce the tinnitus and you don't hear it as loud. Not so in my case it is still loud.
  7. Berta She called someone at the RO office and they told her that I was not scheduled for any C & P exams. I checked on ebenefits and it does say a C & P exam. That is OK I am prepared.
  8. I was at the VA this morning for my regular six month visit with my PCP and I got a phone call just as I was checking in with the new kiosks they have. The lady said since you here we would like to schedule you for a C & P exam for your prostate cancer. I put her off and told her I could not attend today so she scheduled it for Thurs. Now I have been rated 100% since Jan of 2014 for PC. I know I will have a re-evaluation exam. I have never received any notice to reduce or any other mail in regards to a proposal to reduce. My question is if in fact this C & P is that and I have not been notified how do I file an appeal if I disagree with what they want to reduce me too? I also went and talked to my VSO who I might add is quite competent. She checked with St Petersburg, FL where the RO is at and said you should not be scheduled for any C & P exams. I am going to go because I think would be better to go than not. I will find out what is going on thurs. I guess.
  9. helping bobby Here is a web site to the milpers in St. Louis. http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/standard-form-180.html Recommend you contact them with a request for a copy of military records. I think the only records destroyed in the fire were from WW1 and WWII. Anyway the best way to find out is request all of his records from them.
  10. I just received a letter that the VA is charging me $26.18 for a prescription I received in March of 2013. I called the 800 # that was listed and was told it is now $28.05. Now at that time I was not 100%. I received A bill from them in June of 2014 and took it to the patient advocate and told him that if I had been told at the time that I received the prescription that I had to pay for it I would have refused it as it was nothing but a vitamin. To those that are not rated above 50% be aware that you may have to pay a copay for prescriptions received. Of course they don't tell you this when you receive them. But, they sure will charge you interest for them. They should inform you at the time of dispensing the prescription that you need to pay. Make sure you ask at the time you receive them.
  11. I have a question for those that have been in the same position. I am currently rate 100% for PC, I know that it is about time for them to send me a letter for a C&P to determine what residuals I have. I understand that you can only get a maximum of 60% for residuals. I don't if that is true or not. Anyway, here is the kicker I have been diagnosed as having loss of sphincter control due to radiation treatment for PC and I also have urinary problems as well. Does anyone know if the 60% criteria is correct or not?

    AGENT ORANGE

Probably not unless he has proof that the prostate problems occurred on active duty. He should keep an eye on his PSA levels. I was diagnosed with PC and my PSA was a 2.8. If his PSA goes up a half a point in a six month period he should have a biopsy done.
  13. Check article, Looks like we will get a Cost of living increase. But probably not on SS http://www.military.com/military-report/house-passes-benefits-legislation.html?ESRC=mr0803.nl
  14. Check the article. http://www.military.com/military-report/va-to-outsource-care.html?ESRC=mr0727.nl
  15. I would file a claim for an increase and let him go thru a C & P with the VA and then post the results on here and we can tell you what he should get. I would think that if he were to go to 70% they would give him TDIU.
  16. check article scratch this guy off my list to vote for. http://www.military.com/daily-news/2015/07/09/gop-candidate-military-retirees-must-pay-more-for-health-care.html?ESRC=eb.nl

  19. Smirak Please read the following CFR to clarify your test. http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx?rgn=div5&node=38:1.0.1.1.5#se38.1.4_185
  20. The fire in 1973 destroyed the records of some WW II vets not anyone else.
  21. Go to this web site. Make sure you request ALL military records as the 2-1's will show every where you have been and for how long. http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/standard-form-180.html
  22. Slick Make sure you do some research on the complications of DM II as there are many. If you have any you need to file a claim for them as well. I currently have peripheral neuropathy and it has been denied so I had the neuro Doc fill out a DBQ and I am filing a NOD for it. Make sure you keep your glucose levels in line because you don't want these complications.
  23. Buck52 Any audio test done by an outside ENT or audiologist must be done to VA standards or they will not be accepted on a claim. Check the following CFR to clarify this.http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx?rgn=div5&node=38:1.0.1.1.5#se38.1.4_185 You must have results at 1000,2000,3000 and 4000 hertz for each ear and then you must have the Maryland CNC word test at three different DB levels as well. The best thing to do is file a claim for hearing loss and have a C & P done by the VA. If your hearing is as bad as indicated on your test and you have proof that it happened on active duty then you will be Sc'd for it. Also, do you have ringing in your ears, if so you will get rated for tinnitus as well. You can only get 10% for tinnitus. I am currently rated at 30% for hearing loss and I can tell you it took me 10 years to get that. You have to be dam near deaf to get rated for HL.
  24. Check the article. http://www.military.com/daily-news/2015/06/11/va-nomination-on-hold-in-senate-over-agent-orange-dispute.html?ESRC=eb.nl
  25. K9MAL I quit taking finasteride and megastrol 3 weeks ago. I have already noticed a difference. I will check out the lawsuit against Merck for sure. Buck52 Tamsulosin is Flomax. The finasteride is supposed to reduce the size of your prostate. I think I would put up with an enlarged prostate rather than take the finasteride.
