  1. The VARO called me on Friday and told me I am 100%. The comissary letters says no further exams needed. All 3 of my appeals were settled with the DRO at once, the latest one was filed June 2013. Besides prayer, (asking and believing HE would deliver) 1 family member and the internet, I had no help in filing my claim or appeals. All the professional organisations turned me down or did not answer my calls/emails for assistance, but HE did. Thanks and good luck to all on thes site.
  2. Hello, I am a few days short of the 2 year mark for a NOD I sent in. Last week the state VSO called ABQ for me and the RO rep said that they have everything they need...just waiting. The VA cancelled my physical medical exam in late January 2013 for reasons unbeknownst to me. I did have to go to a mental exam though. The VSO said that if I did not have a POA, my claim would just be sitting around because you basically have to make some noise to be noticed. I have tried the past week to obtain a federal POA to no avail...some have told me that they do not take on new clients if the claim is in appeal and others have just outright ignored my calls and email requests. I do have the tel# and email of VA reps in Washington and have called them before to get my original claim moving along. I don't want to appear pushy or like I am the only veteran that has a claim pending but my file is flagged as a hardship and does not appear to be making any progress. Is 2 years too short of a time to call Washington and ask them to inquire about my claim or should I wait another 6 months to a year? I hate feeling like I am bothering the VA when I ask them to process my claim but how else can we get our claims noticed? A claim for my right knee has been reopened (03/13) because of overlooked evidence the RO had. I have a DRO since 05/11 fand 03/13 for different issues (IRIS said that the RO would probably process everything at once. Thank you for any advice.
  3. The DAV is good for providing transportation to and from medical appointments. Also, an anonymous donor paid for my lifetime membership. The bad-took 6 months for the DAV to reply to my request for assistance...I was homeless at the time. The DAV chapter in ABQ brought a mobile van to my town, took the information and names of veterans in need of assistance with their claims . Once they left, they never returned my phone calls after repeated calls to their office. I had to drop them as POA because what good is there having a POA if you can never speak with them? They told my sister that she did not have a chance to win her IU claim, so she proceded without their assistance and was awarded 100%. I appreciate the free rides, but I would not use them for anything else.
  4. I tried your method before but last year I found Secretary Shineski's email on the web and emailed his office. I had a call the next morning from a rep in his office and a CnP scheduled the next day. Claim got closed in 2 months. I don't have his email but with a lot of digging, it can be found.
  5. Thank you for your response. I do have a copy of my SMR's. It is hard for me to digest, understand and remember things, but at least I finally caught the error. It scares me that the CnP doctor and the RO did not see this themselves. I know that we are our best advocate to win our claims, so I do try to read and re-read my documents, to make sure I did not miss something. I had my SMR records since 2010, but it took this long to understand that the RO said the injuries did not occur in service, while in fact my SMR records say otherwise. Thank you again for the assistance you provide. It is very much appreciated.
  6. Hello, I am confused as to why the VARO reopened a right knee claim that has been in appeal since 05/2011. In March 2013 I faxed the RO and pointed out that my SMR has treatment records of my right knee in service. They had previously stated that I was denied because there was no proof that the injuries ocurred in service. Also, the 05/2011 NOD includes back and left knee, which are being reviewed for an increase (don't know why the date is changed to 03/2013). 05/04/2011 Notice of Disagreement (NOD) RO 05/11/2011 Appeal Pending BVA Claim Received: 03/19/2013 Claim Type: Compensation Estimated Claim Completion Date: 12/01/2013 to 06/04/2014 Contentions: back condition (Increase), left knee condition (Increase), right knee condition (Reopen) Claims Status Process
  7. My medical documents were also in German. The LARO sent them to Pa. for translation. Guess what, when I got a copy of my C-file there were exactly 3 words that were translated. I am not exaggerating. It took them almost 8 months to do this. I called and emailed frequently, but it did not do anything to ensure they were doing the translations properly. After their decision, I had to file a NOD, hoping that they consider ALL medical evidence and not just the 10 minute CnP examination. Good luck!
  8. Well good thing I did add mental health to this claim. I was recently rated 70% SC for it, boosting me up to 80% total. Still have a DRO appeal in for other problems.
  9. Hello, I logged in to Ebenefits tonite and see that my claim is closed. I filed the claim in May 2011. The effective date on the AB8 letter is December 2012? Combined 80%. Should the effective date be the date that I submitted the claim or not? I have no idea how they arrived at the December 2012 date. If I don't agree with this date, what am I supposed to do? I still have a DRO pending for other medical problems. Thanks for any input.
  10. http://www.allsup.com/ If you are going to school.....ask them yourself and see if you get a different answer.
  11. FYI, Got this response from a SSDI lawyer. Through our experience of helping individuals with disabilities secure SSDI benefits, we are very knowledgeable about the claim process and eligibility. One of the primary requirements is that you must have a physical and/or mental condition that has lasted or is expected to last at least 12 months. In general, you must be disabled from any and all occupations, not performing any significant work activity, and have the support of your doctors. The fact that you still are working or going to school greatly inhibits your chances for securing an SSDI award. If your doctor has allowed you to continue working and you are performing the responsibilities associated with your position or even taking classes, the Social Security Administration likely will view your condition as non-severe and deny you SSDI benefits.
