  1. Welcome!!! To all you newbies to Hadit!! Welcome home! We are happy you finally found us!

Look around the site and ask questions, no question is a "dumb" one, we were all newbies at one time or another. (trust me when I say this!)

  2. Pete!

Your too sweet! And just WHERE is Cudda?? We lost touch with him...we all sure had a few great times on hadit!

    Kim

ps say "hey" to Mrs Pete!

    Berta:

A Veteran has to apply for certification. Call the 800 827 1000 and ask them for the paperwork. As long as a loan is paid and clear a Veteran can get another one.

    Kim and MT:

Couldn't have happened to nicer folks.I think when MT won I finally thought that maybe the VA does get it right sometimes.

I hope that Cudda won his.

  3. Hi Berta!

I can't tell you about home loans. MT used his backpay/CD's to secure the loan. We are just thankful to have a roof over our heads and not worry about it ever being taken away. (We talk alot about how fate/karma/whatever you want to call it, brought him and I together in 96. We still pinch ourselves.)

All I know is he lost the home he had, and that was a VA loan. Soooo...

Just know that good things can still happen just when you think it's hopeless.

And the DVA is NOT a "friend" but an adversary. You have to keep that mindset, put on your gameface, know that you are owed your benefits, otherwise you'd be a gainfully employed person.

    Kim

ohhh I get loooong winded!

    That is wonderful-

    by the way a question-

my husband had bought two homes with the VA Loan Guarantee Certificate-decades ago-

I understood that the amount has gone up quick a bit-

does a vet have to make formal application for the Certificate?

does the VA send a new Certificate when the Mortgage guaranty amount goes up?

  4. I think they are full of BS. They already knew there was/is a problem in the DVA system. So what does this adminstration do? Send us into another area (Iraq) and then blame the Veterans for filing claims?

Don't let them make you all feel bad for something you didn't ask for, their incompentence and stupidity for not planning ahead and funding what they already had.

On my bad days I can think better then they can and that is scary!

    Back log!

STATEMENT OF THE HONORABLE R. JAMES NICHOLSON

    SECRETARY OF VETERANS AFFAIRS

FOR PRESENTATION BEFORE THE HOUSE COMMITTEE ON VETERANS' AFFAIRS February 8, 2007

Compensation and Pensions Workload and Performance Management

VA's primary focus within the administration of non-medical benefits remains unchanged-delivering timely and accurate benefits to veterans and their families. Improving the delivery of compensation and pension benefits has become increasingly challenging during the last few years due to a steady and sizeable increase in workload. The volume of claims applications has grown substantially during the last few years and is now the highest it has been in the last 15 years.

The number of claims we received was more than 806,000 in 2006. We expect this high volume of claims filed to continue, as we are projecting the receipt of about 800,000 claims a year in both 2007 and 2008.

The number of active duty service members as well as reservists and National Guard members who have been called to active duty to support Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom is one of the key drivers of new claims activity. This has contributed to an increase in the number of new claims, and we expect this pattern to persist. An additional reason that the number of compensation and pension claims is climbing is the Department's commitment to increase outreach. We have an obligation to extend our reach as far as possible and to spread the word to veterans about the benefits and services VA stands ready to provide.

Disability compensation claims from veterans who have previously filed a claim comprise about 55 percent of the disability claims received by the Department each year. Many veterans now receiving compensation suffer from chronic and progressive conditions, such as diabetes, mental illness, and cardiovascular disease. As these veterans age and their conditions worsen, we experience additional claims for increased benefits.

  5. Welcome to Hadit! Sorry you had a bad experience with that Dr., some of them need some bedside manner classes.

I fit in this catagory. I was recovering from my sugeries after being medivac out of Iraq. For a over a year I was on lmited duty where I had all of the time on the world to improcess with the va. I was trying to do this so I would not miss any work when I went back to my civilian job after three years. No we need a 214 etc.. I had to take today off without pay to go to white river jct vt(2 hour away) to get an appt. My employer is not happy. Gone three years, medically discharged from the army and he still has appointments making him be away from his job. I saw a shrink today filled out 125 question survey to ask him to refill my ptsd meds. He did not even go over my problems from the survey. Pretty much kicked me out telling me I had to make another appt. I had this med for 2 years from a civ doc and they will not accept that. Bull.. I am shaking gottta go before I really go off...
  6. Yeah, what Rick said!!

Wow... I can't really add anything...... because

This thread is a very fine example of veterans helping veterans. Everyone presented clear factual information while building on what others said. I am proud to be a hadit family member, and part of the fine example Hadit sets for the veteran community. You guys should all give yourselfs a pat on the back for a job well done. TBird should be especially proud for the Vetsters (sters as in monsters) she has helped create. Ahhh yes it is good to be back....

  7. Welcome to the Hadit Fambly! I'm happy to hear you got your Honorable, finally. I just want to add, Thank-You for your service!

Hello all. I am a 12 year army veteran investgator who started having problem in 11th year of army. Left army in May 1992 with an OTH. the army and the VA held hearings on my discharge and VA concluded my time was all HOnorable. THe DRB after a full hearing in front of a board of Officers upgraded to full Honorable and RE Code of 1 and discharge authority "Secretarial Authority". Have been seeing private doctor for depression since leaving army. I am being treated by VA Hospital for PTSD and they confirm the diagnosis. Dr. there told me I should file a claim. I did and am waiting. I included photos of the murder crime scenes I attended as precip stressors, as well as autopsies which I was required by my job to attend. I included some of the photos of crime scenes where parents had killed thier children which were the toughest for me, letter showing last salary and release from employement due to excessive time off due to meds, etc; provided names of deceased, letter from my wife, and provided all medical reocrds from private physicians including psychiatrist which has diagnosed me with major depression. When he saw me in 1992, he made a comment of the symtpoms appearing as PTSD but diagnosed with Major Depression. The Dr. at VA says clearly PTSD, both in psychiatry and primary care. I am on several meds per day, included all pharmacy records. I was recently told in a letter I should know something within 60 days. I do not work and essentially do not leave the house. I dont like to be around people and dont answer door. At one point for almost a year, I slept with a 9mm under pillow out of fear. I can tell you that the VA hospital here in Virginia has been very helpful to me and has taken great care of me. I was concerned that I would not be taken seriously but they took me as soon as I applied for help and have done quite a bit of counseling including the new EMDR. Can anyone tell me from thier experience if I am on the right track here? Am I sending the right stuff? Am I doing the right thing? Also do I need to tell the VA if I receive some type of inheritance? I am not destitute but have not worked in two years afer losing a 100k a year job due to the depression. Thank you for your help.
  8. Hey Fambly!

You are ALL so special!! Thanks for ALL your ideas. Now if I can just get him to call me or email...(I know it's not a good sign)

Oh, let me first say he is still active duty. He loves his work. He reenlisted while he was in Iraq. (mom says...yeow!) Of course I never will tell him to "get out" not that he'd listen to me, lol! He was brought up to think for himself and he's a smart cookie. (mama's PROUD of him)

Last I knew he'd NOT had his Anthrax...but then that was 3 yrs ago.

  9. Hidee-ho Fambly!

Missed you all! I have great news, he's baaaaaaack! Physically ok, now the wait... I know very little about what he did or saw, etc.

My question is this, what can I suggest to him now that he's back? Things to look out for, anything you all can pass along?

BTW, he will hopefully get here to hadit in the near future! :P So I don't have to ask dumb questions! lol!
