  1. Rpowell, Thanks for the info, I will take some time and review. CShock
  2. Berta, I reviewed my package and didn't find any mention of TDIU. Shock
  3. CC Bob, Thanks for the info and yes I am a career mil. retiree. Shock
  4. Berta, Thank you for your response. I am unemployed but I'm a full time student and I don't think I would qualify for TDIU, however I will review my paperwork to inquire if TDIU has been mentioned. I understand the retro pay will include the difference of the two ratings, I was curious if the process was the same. Once my intial claim was rated and I received my first payment, DFAS conducted an audit to determine what if any funds were owed, that info was sent back to the VA for processing, etc. I'm curious if this is the same process which will take place to determine the retro amout, if have an idea what to expect. However since I'm currently receiving payments an audit has already been conducted and payout received, with an increase it seems (in my mind) that calculating the difference and matching same to the effective date is the only requirement. Shock Again thank you for the info and I will review my pprwk regarding TDIU.
  5. Good afternoon, I recently received retro pay for my initial claim and now I have received a rating increase from 60-80 percent as two contentions which were defered have now been rated. I'm a military retiree and I'm curious if the process of obtaining retro pay for a rating increase is the same as receiving retro pay for an initial claim? I.e. audit of records by DFAS, results of the audit sent.to the VA... Thanks in advance. Shock
  6. Thanks all and Bob K, it does feel good. Once I took the advice that was offered regarding patience and taking up another hobby (because checking e-benefits had become my hobby) I learned to relax and enjoy the long awaited success stories of others. Was it easy waiting...about as easy as passing a kidney stone (the size of a peanut) through the male anatomy but I made it. Lastly just to add some humor, the VA process is difficult but I'd prefer that over a kidney stone the size of a peanut. :) Have a great day all!
  7. Good afternoon, Great news and news i had been waiting on. I'll update my previous post to depict the time line. In short I filed under BDD Oct 2010 and retired 28 Feb 11. Received my rating of 60% with two items defered in Jan 12, effective date Feb 12. Retro payment received May 12 and today received word of increase. As so many have said before, waiting can make you crazy if you let it. I feel my wait pales in comparison to many others (and this was my initial claim). Thanks again to all who have answered my questions and offered advice, that encouragement can pull you out of a rough spot during times of frustration. To those just beginning the fight, stay strong and follow the footsteps of those who have been carrying the guidon for soo many years. V/r Shock
  8. Even though I had included my dependency information to include the supporting doc umentation, when I made my initial claim; upon receiving my rating I was paid sans dependent rate. So resubmitted my information online the same day I received my rating and the matter closed in 33 days. I didn't have to send in birth certificates or marriage license again.
  9. Thanks all. I have my C&P report for the scars contention, can I send this to the RO myself or should I just let the VAMC handle this, since the RO made the request to them. Obviously I want to spend things up (in a VA relative term) as much as possible. Thanks
  10. Good Afternoon, I have a quick question. I recently was award 60% SC with one contention defered and a request for additional evidence regarding another contention. To my surprise the local VAMC called me a few days later and completed the C&P the same day. Since then I have submitted my additional support information and sent same certified mail with return receipt, which arrived at the RO yesterday. Today I optained a copy of the C&P and I would like to know if it is an acceptable practive to send my C&P report to the RO also or let the VAMC send it since a request was made to them. I had until the 22nd of this month to submit my info and the VAMC has until the 22nd of next month. Naturally I want to get things moving a quickly as (VA) possible but I don't want to overstep my bounds. Thanks in advance and more importantly thanks for all the info and knowledge I have gained over the last year. Shock
  11. First let me say thanks to all who have come to my aid and answered any questions over the last 10 months, in my time of confusion and frustration. AND now for the good stuff. I am currently rated at 60% with 1 contention being defered, 1 contention requiring additional information and two contentions denied. I took advantage of the BDD (filed 6 months before) and my ED is 1 Mar 11, here is the breakdown: Strain right shoulder - 20% Degenerative joint disease, cervical spine - 20% Degenerative joint disease, right knee - 10% Right wrist - 10% Left knee painful motion - 10% Tinnitus - 10% Hypertension 10% Gout - 0% Strain left knee, limited flexion - 0% Bi-lateral hearing loss - 0% Shin splints - denied Cellulitus - denied Earlier this week the local VAMC called and fit me in for an appointment for the contention which was defered. I have 5 scars on my right knee, 14 inches long and Ithink they will fall under 7804. My last contention is sleep apnea. I previously sent in my information when I received my VCAA asking if I wanted to send in additional information. I had sent three IRIS request because my SA was not indicated as part of my claim and then around the beginning of Dec, I received a reply stating that my SA was part of the claim. No worries I will resend my report, SMR with SA mentioned and my receipt for the CPAP equipment. This seems like a no-brainer but this website has taught me to expect the unexpected. Needless to say I'm thrilled about the intial rating and the thought of receiving a higher rating due to the aforementioned contentions is somewhat surreal. Finally my dependency status is incorrect, even though I had also previously provided this information, but again from reading the various post on this site, I'm not totally surprised it happend. Two quick questions, ebene, states that I need to submit information regarding my sleep apnea claim; will I receive another VCAA with this information or should I just resend my supporting documentation with a letter explaining why I'm sending the information. My gut tells me that I should receive another VCAA or some sort of form exist which I must complete which will accompany my supporting documentation. Secondly I moved from the state where I made my initial claim, should I enlist the help of the local VSO prior to submitting the aforementioned information to insure the proverbial "i's" and "t's" are dotted and crossed? Thanks again to all and I hope to have more good news regarding my rating Shock
