  1. Does anyone know the best way to locate a facility that treats SCI? Your help is appreciated. Thanks, Healer
  2. Thanks for your input. Yes, veterans are my #1 priority.
  3. Berta, You didn't sound negative AT ALL. I am glad you are honest, and I am definately appreciate your knowledge (experience), that's why I asked. We have to ensure that our veterans get the real info regarding their rights. If you don't mind, can I keep in touch as I get additional info or have additional questions? Thanks so much.
  4. Thanks for your insight. yes, this vet is currently at:Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center in richmond va. The shooting incident is still being investigated by the Army. A social worker at the center told the family that it might be unlikely that he gets a 100%. i am still trying to find out if it was a brawl fight. what i do know so far is, the other soldier said he would shoot him and he did. I believe that the form 21-526 was filled out and sent in. Can you tell me what is: TDIU? I know that SMC is Special Merit Compensation right?
  5. Just found out that the injury was a result of a gunshot by another soldier. He was shot in the neck by his fellow soldier. The incident is under investigation. Would he receive dissability comp?
  6. A soldier was shot in the neck by another soldier which left him paralized from the neck down, except for the use of one arm. Question: Would he be rated at 100%, if not, who should the family turn to ensure that he gets 100%? He is currently at a center in Richmond Va. but only for 6-8 months. Also, he is still receiving his active pay, but the family is worried that after he is discharged that he will not receive disability compensation (service connected). Is there anything they can do? Your help is appreciated. Thanks, Healer
  7. The word from his wife is: he is being moved to a rehab facility. However, he will still receive his active duty salary. I am not sure what that means, since he has served 8 years thus far and then the injury in Irac ocurred. Sorry to hear about your condition, seem like you are coping though. Did you receive in addition to 100% allowance for home modifications and such?
  8. A veteran suffered a spinal cord injury in Iraq. He is being discharged from Walter Reed in DC to a rehab in Richmond Va. What should is wife know or ask for in terms of service connected disability? Will he be designated a 100% disability and how long would his tricare insurance last or what does it cover? Thanks, Healer
  9. I guess this can be considered a "good news story". I was just increased from 30% to 50% for PTSD. However, I would like to know, what should I do next? Should I wait awhile before I re-apply for another increase? My condition is getting worse as time goes. Does anyone have an idea? Thanks, Healer
