  1. I recently got award 20% for my feet. Was fighting with VA for almost 18 months when I won. But for years I had pretty bad depression due to the pain. I was trying to deal with it on my own for years. Last month I finally asked the VA for help. They had me go to a social worker at the local mini VA office. I been meeting with him for two visits so far. He referred me to a VA shrink downtown. He also said that my depression is a secondary condition to my breathing and feet pain. My claim for breathing issues (asthma) and back issue is still pending appeal with that VA. Been almost 6 months on the appeal. The VA shrink downtown said that he believes the depression is due to my on going pain. He said I had to have blood work do etc to check on my levels. He also wants me to start taking depression meds after our next week visit after he sees my blood work. Does the VA automatically put in the secondary condition when they state it is a secondary condition or do I need to file a claim ASAP? Or do I need to wait after I am put on the meds?
