  1. Hey Chuck I used the American Legion. My rep was an old lady and was about to retire so I hired a lawyer in March thinking this would take years. All he really did was have me sign a fee agreement and he requested my c-file. I think a favorable C&P exam is what won my case. I had the C&P a wk. after I hired my lawyer. About 5wks after that the VARO call for more info on my wife and Son and told me I was approved. I told my lawyer about it but he hadn't heard anything and the VARO hadn't sent him anything. I still havn't heard from my lawyer. I guess he's busy spending his share of the money.
  2. shwebb my c&p exam letter sounded a lot like yours. It said at least as likely.I was discharged from the army and hospital the same day for personality disorder. I don't have a personality disorder. They used that to get rid of me quick. I have panic disorder, agoraphobia and bipolar 1 disorder. We filed the claim on panic disorder. I was denied. Then filed a NOD had a c&p and was approved at 100% P&T. I got the letter 4 months after the c&p. I got out of the army in 1983 but never knew I could file a claim until my doctor told me 2 yrs ago. I had a hard time getting my medical records from St.Louis. They finally sent part of them to my doctor and then I got the rest from the RO during the claim process. I found out I was also diagnosed with ajustment disorder and given anti depressents and mood stablizers. Anyway I think your c&p sounds good.
  3. Ok I checked out the DMV web page. There are two different tags in SC. One is disabled veteran handicapped. The other is diabled veteran. One has a wheel chair the other doesn't.
  4. I went to my local VA today. They helped my wife and son get signed up for champ VA and me enrolled in VA health care system. I also decided to get the plates for my cars. It will save us property tax on our cars so I'll do whats good for my family. My wife wants to use the chapter 35 education benefits soon. I think she will do well in school. My local VA has been great through this whole process. I'll be forever greatfull.
  5. Good for you. I have good friends who served in Vietnam. It was terrible the way they were treated when they came home. I know a lot of people who escaped Vietnam after the war ended too. I can tell you these people love America. I hear that when Americans visit Vietnam now the people tell them USA #1.
  6. Pete you should check it out. Texas is a great state. I was hoping to visit this summer but I'm running out of time. I wish the tag just said veteran. A lot of Vets suffer from mental illness and don't want the world to know. People aren't very understanding when it comes to mental illness. I fear that some kid will ask my son if his Dad is Crazy. I live in a small town but am planning to move to a bigger City where gossip isn't as bad.
  7. I'll check this out I have car tax due in 2wks. Thanks Commander Bob.
  8. Yes Comander Bob. If I owned a home that would be good but I sold my house because of hard times. If I'm lucky enough I'll own another one.
  9. Thats ok Cooter. No need to apologies. I guess they very from State to State.
  10. If your mentally disabled there is no wheel chair on the tag but it still says D.Veteran.
  11. I could file a claim for agoraphobia or maybe sleep apnea but its not that much more money and I'm burned out on the process. I just want to move somewhere where I can live a quiet and peacefull life.
  12. I was looking at State Benefits. I think I'll pass on the car tag. Don't want to tell the world I'm mentally disabled.
  13. Hey Bradley. On the back of the 1st.page (cover page) it says No examination will be scheduled in the future for your permanent and total disability. Seems like I read some where that if your disability has lasted over 20yrs its considered permanent. I don't remember where I read that though. I was already on SSDI before I filed a VA Claim. I got out of the Army 27yrs ago. One of my doctors worked as a C&P in the past and told me to file a claim. I didn't think I could. If it wasn't for her I would have never known.
