  1. They may but ya never know w/them. They gave me hearing aids but denied hearing loss. They did award 10% for tinnitus, tho. Good luck! pr
  2. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! Good on you!! Maybe one of these days they'll give me mine. LOL pr
  3. It shouldn't, unless they reduce you to less than 30%. In fact, VocRehab probably won't even know about it unless you tell them! pr
  4. If your grandmother is housebound (another $145.55 monthly), or if in need of Aid & Attendance (another $310.71 monthly), which would be added to the monthly DIC of $1520.51. pr
  5. cragwex - you can request P&T status by writing a letter requesting that you be awarded P&T status. P&T status can be awarded if: - you are 55yo or older - symptoms have persisted without material improvement for five yrs or more - the disability is static - the disease is permanent and not likely to improve. Whether you wait is up to you. pr
  6. You should be okay. It's normal for a 3yr review, which is usually just a form you fill out. Once you're over 50, they are easier on ya, especially if you're rated 100% by the VA. pr
  7. It sounds to me like she's been awarded Dependents Indemnity Compensation (DIC), which is about $1250 a month but if that's correct and she was married to him for the 8yrs directly preceding his death she should get another roughly $250 a month, for a total of about $1500 a month, plus or minus. jmo pr
  8. Technically, SMC is a statutory award, in that if you meet the requirements they are required to award it to you. I don't know that I'd call it a CUE, tho, as it may still be an open, undecided issue/claim, from your TDIU award. jmo pr
  9. I seriously doubt that it can only get better!! jmo pr
  10. Thanks, GP!!! I've done a little more research and as near as I can tell they'll qualify. If nothing else it'll help them w/daily expenses and maybe some college. Thanks, again! pr
  11. My sister recently married an old friend, w/4 minor children, whom he shares custody w/his ex-spouse. My sister is receiving SSDI. Can the step children receive her dependent allowances??? Thanks! pr
  12. beckyf - I disagree w/using any VSO's, like the DAV, AL, VFW, etc., as you are your best advocate. You should file today. You've already lost many years of compensation that you could've received, prior to now. pr
  13. Yes, he should file for TDIU, today, and also file for SSDI, even though he's receiving SSR, as it could raise his rate. jmo pr
  14. I believe they will send the decision to the VARO for implementation. It may take some time before you get the money but keep checking, anyway. jmo pr
  15. Technically, you don't need any evidence that you've gotten worse, once you've been awarded an illness/injury. You merely need to request an increase and the VA is required to re-evaluate your condition. Obviously, the more evidence you have the better chance you'll have of winning. What you should have done was appeal your original award, within the one year deadline. jmo pr
  16. Those items that weren't mentioned, were effectively, denied. You need to file a NOD on those items, ASAP. jmo As for meds, you can take them or not take them. In 25+yrs, I've taken meds 3 times, for about 3 months, each time. I am rated 100% P&T for PTSD and have the over 20yr protection "plan." pr
  17. If, on the deadline date, the VA office is closed, the deadline becomes the next day the office is open again. The deadline cannot fall on a day when the office is closed, as it is automatically extended to the next business day. Just like the IRS and April 15th, tax day. If April 15th falls on a holiday or weekend, the deadline becomes Monday or the next business day. pr
  18. The ability to successfully attend school does not equate as the ability to successfully work or hold down a fulltime job. You could be eligible for VocRehab funding, also. pr
  19. It can take a month or two after the C&P's, for a decision. jmo pr
  20. Sounds like they'll probably award 70%, w/TDIU or 100% for just the PTSD. It just takes time. jmo pr
