  1. I love that "Life below zero" show!! If I were younger, I'd go now but due to my age and anticipated future health needs, I don't want to take the chance. Looks like a great way to live and I mean really live. jmo I prefer living in a rural area. I don't need those so-called friends. again, jmo pr
  2. You should be. The VA should take care of you. I know when I added my Medicare supplement they considered me insured for the previous yr because of my VA coverage but they still had to make the determination decision. pr
  3. What are your leg issues from the service?? Did you witness anything while in the service, such as dead bodies, crashes, suicides, physical trauma to anyone, etc.?? pr
  4. First get the PTSD claim, for SC, approved and then worry about getting a retro date. jmo pr
  5. You need to appeal the hearing loss. Since you're kinda new to the VA system, bear in mind that they are like an insurance co that doesn't want to pay. You need to pursue your claim. Did you get hearing aids, at least?? pr
  6. Yeah, I recommend getting A&B, plus a supplement. Remember VA is free care and sometimes free things are worth what you pay for them. If you don't care about your health I say "stay w/the VA." They only use the cheapest of meds and if something goes wrong nothing you can do. The average patient is a very uneducated client but in that I mean medically uneducated. If they were medically educated they wouldn't go there. Hey, it's only "your" life!!! jmo pr
  7. Nope, never knew I had a problem until 1989. All my friends drank. I had over 40 jobs. I don't remember the accident and was unconscious for 5 days, in ICU. My main thing is getting the residuals rated as SC. They gave me 70% NSC permanent & total, at the time. My contention is that they should have known. We'll see what happens. Should be fun. I realized it was a suicide attempt thru my counseling. pr
  8. I don't think so either but anything is possible. I could see them requiring a Medicare supplement, eventually, so the VA could bill for NSC treatment. jmo pr
  9. If you are trying to figure out when they will schedule your C&P I'd suggest learning M-21 which, if I recall correctly, is a step by step guide advising the VA employee as to what to do next. pr
  10. None of the links work, as they are password protected. pr
  11. Personally I'd check w/a good lawyer, for my options. jmo pr
  12. I have no idea what Wag is nor am I willing to learn. My attitude is either ask the question straight out or miss the chance at mine and some others opinion. I feel if someone can't take the time to ask a question properly, then why should I waste "my time" answering. I don't text, either. No surprise, huh. jmo pr
  13. Now we know why we were taught to low crawl. See, they were helping us for later in life. You might try renting one, until his is fixed. I had to rent one for a wk, once and it was about $100. Well worth it to me. You might try contacting one of those useless service orgs, for help with getting one or paying for it. jmo pr
  14. There's no doubt in my mind that an IME should take place for an IMO. pr
  15. I see the problem as being the nexus, in that they acknowledge it happened on active duty but say that this pain he has now is not related to the original injury. Sworn/notarized affidavits stating he's had this on-going problem since the accident may help somewhat but I feel a good IMO connecting them is what's needed. All statements should be sworn and notarized, as it carries more weight in the legal system. jmo pr
  16. That's what he's supposed to do. Once a claimant is awarded SC for PTSD the stressor is no longer an issue. The only concern is how it affects them now and tomorrow. pr
  17. Part 2 will be on tonight, 6:30pm (EST) can't say whether it was ABC, CBS or NBC but it appears that generic drug companies can't be sued, if you have a problem. The VA mostly uses generic drugs on us. Good luck w/that if something goes wrong. pr
  18. Sorry but no you're not worth it, to the VA. They can medicate you and keep you quiet, thus saving them mucho money. They never promised great care, just "free care," which is why I use my private physician. In the past 4 months, he's put me on insulin, scanned my bladder, my aorta, increased my meds for my blood pressure and I've had an EKG. I also have a referral to a pulmonologist in 2 wks. The VA has done basically nothing. I did have an eye exam, by a student the other day, that I had to sit thru a second time, while the Dr reviewed it and checked everything. That's the problem w/VA care. If they err, you can sue, if you live. jmo pr
  19. Personally, I suggest you contact a good law firm. You could probably win on your own but it'll probably take yrs & yrs. I used Bergmann & Moore. www.vetlawyers.com and was quite happy w/them. jmo pr
  20. I'd go with the lawyer but you'll need an IMO to counter their C&P report, as the VA always tries to blame someone/something else. Your stressor certainly was a valid incident. I know money's tight and the VA knows that also, which is just another way they screw the veteran. jmo pr
  21. Don't count on the VA getting your SS documentation. I've been fighting for over 22 yrs for the VA to get all my SS stuff. You should submit your SSDI award letter to the VA, for your claim. jmo pr
  22. OKay, here ya go . . . a lesson in VA. The VA has two sections. The VHA (Veterans Health Administration) or VAMC's and the VBA (Veterans Benefits Administration), also know as the Veterans Service Center or Claims and one has nothing to do w/the other. Your info will never go from the medical side to the claims side until/unless you release it to go there. It's one of the many systems the VA has set in place to screw the veteran out of benefits. pr
  23. You can change psyches by just requesting it. Contact your primary care doc to do it. As for the Vietnamese thing, I don't understand it. I have no problem w/them at all. In fact find them to be a hard working people, much unlike what we've raised here in America lately. If you have a problem w/Asian people why did you see him for a yr?? jmo pr
