  1. I owe a great deal to Berta, for she got the lead out of my britches and got me on the fast track to winning my claim. Always Grateful.
  2. What does this link mean then? http://www.vva.org/PressReleases/2009/pr09-031.html
  3. Carlie, Isn't it wonderful our moms are still with us. I feel the presence of my mother and my sister everyday. Without their inspiration, there are times, I do not think I could continue on. My mother has been gone from me almost 8 years and within two years, I lost my sister. My sister always said she would watch after me from the other side. Strange to others as it may seem, my file went to the BVA on her Birthday and then 2 years later on the same day the Judge made his decision. I hope you are feeling better. I have an electric and a battery operated Nebulizer. You can purchase a battery operated one " Brand New" on ebay. You will not need a prescription for the one on ebay. Sold from a very reliable source. I use mine every night, for it helps to keep those nightmares away of drowning. Always, Betty
  4. Hi, Did you have a C&P examination and the doctor state your being incompentent? Do you have a checking account and do you write your own checks? What about charge cards? If so do you have proof you are paying them and on time. I have 100% for Chronic Anxiety Severe and sometimes this does become a problem, but in my C&P the doctor stated, " I was competent to handle my own affairs. I am sure others will also come in to assist you. Is there a reason your VARA would think you were incompetent?
  5. cuchi, Thanks so much. They have my husband on 3 iron pills a day. I trust his bleeding will stop as yours. Always, Betty
  6. Jon, Thanks so much. If we had it do over again, we would have insisted on the seedlings. The doctor did not want the seedlings because of the heart condition, but the radiation, took him back into the A-Fib anyway. Now he has all of these other problems. I have no ideal when or if all of this rectal bleeding is ever going to stop. He was never in Nam and from his history, one would think there was agent orange in Gitmo. He receives no treatment or benfits from the VA. All private physicians. Thanks so much, Betty
  7. Guys, I hope you guys don't mind if I ask a question in your thread. I know this is a personal question, but I am almost at the breaking point. How do I start, My husband was diagnosed with postate cancer March 2008 by way of a biopsy by his private Urologist. He is a Vietnam Era Veteran, but in Gitmo. He began radiation treatment 43 of them the beginning of June 2008. I know the Radiologist Oncologist said his last 10 treatments would be a larger dose. In the middle of the treatments the radiation caused his heart to go back into its' A-fib with Flutter. His heart beat was at 138 beats a minute and higher. He finished all the radiation in October 2008 and then in December 2008 He went into the hospital for a heart conversion to regulate his heart, which at this time is holding. Just when I thought our life could get back to normal in June 2009, 8 months after the radiation, he began to spot blood. As the days passed the amount of blood has increased to severe bleeding from his rectum. February 2009, he had a Colonoscopy just for safe measure. This would be 4 months before the bleeding started. August 2008. a Surgeon used a scope to investigate. Said nothing serious. just the radiation left the tissue and blood vessels irritated. Has anyone you know experienced anything like this? I have just about researched out and can find no answers. Seems as though surgery is out of the question. If anyone can help me, please do. Always, Betty
  8. HI, My claim file left the BVA and went to the R.O. It took about 3 months for them to decide my rating and the amount of my retro pay. Did the award letter state if you claim was re-opened to the first date you filed. Ours was similar in that I had " New and Material" Evidence never seen by the VA before which re-open my claim of 1992. I am sure some one on the board will know about the effective date.
  9. My concerns are the same as C.G. You see my award was granted in 2008, but went back to 1992. Would you have to be 100% P&T for the 10 year rule to apply. Let's say in 1997 you were at 50%? Only became 100% in 2005. Thanks to anyone, Betty
  10. Here I am and ready to help you anyway I can. Always, Betty

  12. I would definitely be thankful for the ablation. I couldn't stand it either. The best to you. Betty
  13. Why are you having the Cardiac Ablation? I read your post, what is the name of your heart condition? My husband has A-Fib with Flutter. I looked this up on the internet. When is ablation appropriate : Many people have abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias) that cannot be controlled with lifestyle changes or medications. Some patients cannot or do not wish to take life-long antiarrhythmic medications and other drugs because of side effects that interfere with their quality of life. Most often, cardiac ablation is used to treat rapid heartbeats that begin in the upper chambers, or atria, of the heart. As a group, these are know as supraventricular tachycardias, or SVTs. Types of SVTs are: Atrial Fibrillation Atrial Flutter AV Nodal Reentrant Tachycardia AV Reentrant Tachycardia Atrial Tachycardia Less frequently, ablation can treat heart rhythm disorders that begin in the heart’s lower chambers, known as the ventricles. The most common, ventricular tachycardia, may also be the most dangerous type of arrhythmia because it can cause sudden cardiac death. For patients at risk for sudden cardiac death, ablation often is used along with an implantable cardioverter device (ICD). The ablation decreases the frequency of abnormal heart rhythms in the ventricles and therefore reduces the number of ICD shocks a patient may experience. For many types of arrhythmias, catheter ablation is successful in 90-98 percent of cases – thus eliminating the need for open-heart surgeries or long-term drug therapies.
  14. Your question has been answered by others, but believe me keep all medical treatments records and appointments. Had I not had every single medical record from date of discharge in 1964 to date, I would have never won, finally after 40 years, my claim for " Chronic Anxiety. The grant by the BVA Judge was nice, but sure would have helped my family and my daughters when they were younger when they had a mother who was afraid to drive vehicle or even go into a store. My daughters lost out on the education benefits, because by the time I was granted they were beyond the age limit. A lot of my medical records of that time period were mere hand written scribble, but by the hands of our Dear Lord, the Physican who wrote those medical records was still alive and had his license to practive medicine. The AMC and the R.O described his medical records as being illegible, and discounted them, but the BVA Judge had no problem reading his typed up letter of the same medical records. The retro was nice, but I think you get the gist of what I am saying. Paper trail by all means. Always, Betty
  15. LILS, I will try to give you my best opinion. My husband has the same condition as you. First most people to my knowledge have hypertension like me and I take my meds and go on. We are talking about two different illnesses. Hypertension and Heart A and V Fib. The Ablation is for the irregular heart beat and to my knowledge, yes you will take medication to keep your heart regular and if you are the lucky ones, you heart will stay regular. This medication will not to my knowledge lower your blood pressure, only regulate your heart beat. Again, to my knowledge , you would be claiming for two medical conditions. Hyptersion and Irreqular Heartbeat. You mentioned 100%, Please don't let me scare you, but we are talking about a very serious condition. Again, I am not doctor only the wife who lives with my husband each day with the same illness. Anyone please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Always, Betty
  16. Congratulations!!! Betty
  17. C.G. I don't know the why's, but The Va paid me retro back three years after they received the TDIU Form at the 100% rating. Hope this helps. Betty
  18. How true. When my file left the BVA and back to Huntington on my evidence sheet neither of these two doctors were mentioned. Here are the words directly from the BVA: It is also noted that the medical opinions in support of the veteran's claim, physicians' opinions in 2004 (VA) and in 2008 (private), were based on review of the entire record and examination of the veteran. The Board finds that these two opinions which favor a grant of service connection are premised upon an accurate picture of the veteran's history and current condition. I am sure that is how the Va was able to start me in 1992 with 10% and this was for 5 years and then to 30% and then up to 100%, when in fact I should have been 100% from 1992 to date. Betty
