  1. I ask the question of the filing date, as I did file and was paid 40 years after discharge. I was stupid and didn't file immediately after discharge. The Navy put the fear of God in me and for years I was afraid to walk into or even contact the VA. According to their records my first filing date was 1992. They have down I filed for Nervousness and fear of heights. I didn't do the filling in of the blanks one of the VA Counselors did it for me. I filed to re-open that claim under Anxiety. It was when I secured my own "Psychiatric Records" from the St. Louis Archives was the claim re-opened, because the VA never acquired them before and they were deemed " Both New and Material Evidence" by the VA. First C&P was " More Likely than not" Transferred file to another R.O Second C&P by two Psychiatrist Personality Disorder. BVA and then the AMC and denied and back to BVA. I had to fight a bit and get rid of the old " Personality Disorder" with an Independent Medical Opinion and Evaluation. Of course he had to be at the top of his field with Credentials a Mile long. In the end the BVA Judge awarded me retro back to my first filing date. As you can see years past and there were times, I was ready to throw in the towel, but The Members of Hadit did Research for me, help me type letters, everyone came to my rescue and we finally won this long drawn out claim. I had help from everyone in emails and P.M's and post on the board. I was paid a large sum of money and I am forever grateful to everyone. The older members of the board know my story, but wanted to post if you think you have the goods on them with " New and Material Evidence". Go for it, but it will and may be a long haul ahead of you. I had to dodge pot holes and everything they threw at me. Good luck and the Best to You!!
  2. Hi, Did you file a claim in 1970 and the Va not acquire your service medical records?
  3. So should I get my congressman involved? This is only what I did. I don't want to answer your question and sway you in any direction. I involved My Senator, My Congressman and the President of the United States. Whether I should have or not. I don't know, but I did it anyway.

  7. Gee, Thanks, Sounds just like me. Always Grateful to all of you. Betty
  8. Pete, Thanks, I sure stay in a panic all the time. I didn't know this. Where would I locate more information on this. Maybe I can connect all of this back to my already service connected chronic anxiety?
  9. Betty, Ask the doctor directly, let them know your intentions. There is absolutely no reason for them not to support your wishes. Also, have you been SC'd for the mitral valve disease and were the murmurs mentioned on your entrance physical when you joined the military. If not they could be SC'd as well. Bergie Bergie, Absolutely no mention of any problem with heart murmur or any heart problem on entrance examination. In short terms my doctor of 32 years has always called it a Systolic Click. Something about the blood backing up or something. I believe he was being kind. I have never shown him this paper, for he is the same doctor who fought with me for 7 years to receive 100% for Chronic Anxiety. He is an Internist, but he beat the crap out of the VA. Thanks again, I sure appreciate your kindness. Betty
  10. Thanks Bergie, I was going through my huge box and did locate admission to Great Lakes Hospital Diagnosis Rubella (German Measles.) The doctor mentions Grade 1 and Grade 11 Soft Apical Systolic Murmur. The Aortic second sound was louder than Pulmonic second sound. I have been ask by many doctors if I had had Rheumatic Fever or the German Measles as I have a Mitral Value issue. I know I am going for another Stress Test this month and thought I may need to address this with my doctor. Just thinking of how to bring this together. Thanks Bunches, Betty
  11. Hi to all. I need some help please. I filed a new claim for service connection for High Blood Pressure Secondary to my already 100% Chronic Anxiety. I received the VCAA letter today and it is the same old crap. The R.O wants me to send them authorization to secure my medical records from the two doctors who treated me for this since 1972. I looked in my service medical records and my blood pressure was never taken or if so never written down. This is not the problem, my first readings of high blood pressure began 8 years after discharge. I know my anxiety causes my blood pressure to elevate, but I thought when I opened the claim they would use the medical records they already have. I have about 2000 sheets in my C-file as it is and I see no reason to ask my doctors to sent all of those medical records again, repeating 30 some years of treatment. I think I need to write and tell them to forget it and close the claim. I am correct, right? I have never seen a death certificate state cause of death. " Chronic Anxiety". I was trying to find a way to protect him if I kick the bucket sooner than I need too. Thanks a bunch, Betty
  12. Cowgirl, I am so Happy for you. You are such a blessed person and deserve all these things to happen to you. You have been such an inspiration to me and others on this site. God bless you and your family always. Betty
  13. HvyGns38, From my experience, I only received this information when I was granted 100%. I sure hope this means good news for you. Betty
  14. We were both in the same situation. I was paid back 16 years retro. No lawyer was involved, but some darn good brains here on Hadit. For them I shall always be grateful and many thanks to all of you. I would definitely make sure the lawyer received his money and I would purchase my home and the new car and save some money and live life and be Happy! This is only from my experience. Always, Betty
