  1. Early in my quest to file I researched various forums on Hadit. Did have success filing my own requests for compensation, took a while and a few filings to get full compensation, usually without any problem. The forums helped me put together complete compensation filings by putting me in right direction and helping me gather evidence to include. This has been done over a several year time frame as conditions came to light to apply for. Thank you Hadit members, especially the old timers.
  2. Charleese, Just my opinion, but if he didn't file at the time of injury, 2008, then I think they will only go back to date he filed.
  3. Charlese, I agree with Broncovet that unless your claim falls under one of the exceptions, they will only pay from the date filed, even though it is a secondary injury. He could file an appeal with BVA, giving the reasons you explained in your post, and flip a coin. The worst that can happen is he will be denied an EED of 2008 again. Am a little confused with ref to BVA and RO. If a VARO issue, file NOD, giving same reasons. I doubt the RO will go against a BVA decision. This is if I have it figured right. JMHO Someone will correct me if I am wrong.
  4. I had, Return Receipt Requested, requested my "C" file from PGH VARO on Dec. 15, 2011. I received a post card from the FOIA Officer on Dec 30th, 2011 that they would forward the file as soon as they could. I had already had all my claims decided prior to this request. I too thought requesting the C File while claims where in process would slow up my claims process. I would also agree with Capt C's view it would not be considered a formal claim, otherwise I would have received a VCAA letter instead of a postcard. Hope this helps.
  5. VetsLady, I know how this must alarm you and your Vet, just as I was alarmed. I now don't stress myself as I usually did, just take it easy. You have done a marvelous job in research and perserverance. I wish your Vet good luck upon seeing his Cardiologist. I also have a mild left atrial enlargement, so just changed somewhat my lifestyle to not overdo anything. My hats off to you for your dedication, and I wish you and your Vet only the very best.
  6. VetsLady, I had an ecocardiogram and nuclear stress test that showed a inferior infarction, age undetermined. Even though my private Cardiologist apparently filed the form that Berta referred to in a negative manner, partly because he refused to read it 2 times I showed it to him. I do have a pacemaker, but with my private family Dr's diagnosis of CAD and the C & P Dr. referring to the tests my Cardiologist ran, I received a 60% rating. BTW, my private Cardiologist never said a word about the results of the tests other than condition was still unchanged and believed he was referring to a 20% blockage. He hever told me about the inferior infarction. BTW, I am getting a new private Cardiologist. Since he filed a claim earlier, assuming he mentioned his heart condtion when denied, this should fall under Nehmer with an earlier EED date. Others, more knowledgeable, will chime in if this isn't correct. I am assuming he is a Nam vet. And first & foremost, get him the required medical help with a Cardiologist.
  7. Congrats, spend wisely, and Thank You for your service.

    I Won!

Congrats Doc, It is a life changer, so glad you won. Stay healthy and enjoy your success and family.
  9. Mos1833, I am using XP and Firefox 9.0.1. Had no problem with the new format. Tried duplicating your problem in My Content but couldn't. Maybe with Firefox settings, or older version of Firefox, Just a guess. ComputerTech made a comment about just the Login Screen coming up, not sure if you may be signing on through Facebook or Twitter. Another guess.
  10. Congratulations, and a great start to a New Year.
  11. Congrats on your success. John999 and Berta have very good advice.
  12. I am glad to hear of your success. Congrats. And I agree that there is so much knowledge and help. You just have to read and use it. Many are willing to go that extra step and guide you.
  13. I agree with Commander Bob that the delays are not the sole responsibility of AO claims. Sorry if I came off blaming AO claims completely, was not my intention. The system is inept and seems the only ones that care are the Vets, and loved ones. We are all in this together, regardless of what branch, dates, relationship to a vet, or job we did in the service. We should all be proud to have served our country. I thank you all for your Service. Together we stand, divided we fall. Can't remember where that is from, but it is true.
  14. Great news for your brother. Congrats to both of you. You for urging him to file, like a buddy did for me.
  15. In looking at times it takes for different claims, I think it depends on the VARO handling the claim. At present, I believe they are concentrating on Agent Orange claims and Nehmer. When they have those to a decent level, then I think they will be handling other claims. My agent orange claim for IHD took only 5 months from beginning to end, but thanks to Hadit Elders and members, I had, or made sure, that the VARO had all evidence I had, or they would need. My first claim, PTSD, took almost a year, even with them having all the evidence they needed. And it was done in Hartford,CN. The others were out of Pgh office. And with all claims, I never called or used IRIS. Just my experience only.
  16. The C & P General sounds very promising, of course no one can second guess the VARO. But here is my story on my last C & P for IHD. My cardiologist must have returned the form saying I didn't have IHD. My family physician diagnosed CAD. The C & P I had was with a family Dr. at the VA. He wrote the mets btwn 3 & 5 and repeated what had been determined in tests with my private Cardiologist. He did not specify either IHD or CAD. However about 3 months after C & P I was awarded 60% for IHD. I do have a pacemaker and apparently had what they call a silent heart attack at some point, but age not determined, from test of my private Cardiologist. Figured my chances were not great, but like I said, no one can second guess the VARO. Good Luck.
  17. Berta, I misunderstood the first post myself, but you have cleared that up. I wish you the best of luck on your current AO claims. You have been one of the reasons I have won my claims, without hassle, just good luck I'm guessing. And I thank you for your time and effort that you put into Hadit to help all of us newbies to the VA Claim system.
  18. Check the What We Decided page that came with the award. They may have a combined rating on the second or third page just under current award. JVet may be onto something, but I haven't had to try that. My 3rd award came with a combined rating (80%) under What We Decided. 60% should be the correct combined rating. I had 40% and new award 60% IHD, and 80% total under What We Decided, second white page. Congrats on your award, you earned it. Thank you for your service.
  19. Read and heed the knowledgeable advice here, have your claim complete with medical evidence, and you will succeed. It's your claim and ultimately, your responsibility.

  20. Congrats. You earned it. Have a Very Merry Christmas.
  21. Congrats CB. I agree with the knowledge you learn here, and I put in my own claims with just the knowledge I learned here on Hadit, mostly just lurking and reading. I had one where one SO said I didn't have a claim. Ended up with 30% doing it myself.
  22. Thanks for all the congrats. My ducks were in a row because of the knowledge of Hadit members and all the advice I learned by just reading. I thank you all and hope I can help others with their claims. A special thank you to the elders, where I learned just how to line up the ducks. Money was in the bank this morning.
