  1. I was addicted to benzodiazepines for 10 years thanks to mil docs. I'm off now. Took me months of brutal withdrawal. For sleep now I use Minipress and melatonin. They work and don't impair me. I was an award winning writer before benzodiazepines. They were like a creative lobotomy. They work for short term management. Don't use them for more than 3 weeks.
  2. I followed the advice here and called Freedom Service Dogs in Denver. Got Gander in just 7 months!! We get complimented everywhere on his behavior and personality He's up for Hero Dog of the Year in the Humane Assn awards. Saved my life!! If anyone checks out FSC tell them the China Vet sent you. They will know...
  3. Wow. Congrats. I hope your NOD compensates you for all those years of frustration.
  4. Wow. My ten years was fast! Congrats!!!! Very happy for you.
  5. Big Congrats! That will be a great payday! Breathe!!
  6. Glad you dogged them!! Congrats
  7. Wonderful news! I know that feeling of disbelief. Take good care of yourself!!
  8. Congrats!! I am 100 now but was only 70 with a GAF of 30. Read the criteria Carley provided. Good luck.
  9. Done!! $70,000 officially discharged. So much stress gone
  10. Good luck! I am not sure what I would do without Gander. He's now known and loved by the community. We've had 2 trips by air and two by train. AA and Amtrak both treat him so well. My heart rate is down and I'm off the Klonopin! Big improvements. I don't remember life before Gander.
  11. I have a friend who did a degree under voc rehab in 2005. He now wonders if he can go back and apply for self employment help. Anyone know?
  12. I was scheduled for discharge next December 2013... Because I received 100% P&T recently I sent them the award letter. I was notified this week that my $60k in accrued interest was discharged.
  13. I filed for new issues and unemployability while my case was at bva The effective date was logged that day. I was just awarded that request and my award went back two years to the date I applied when other issues were under appeal
  14. I agreed to drop my other claims and received 100% P&T The only remorse: what if ( big if) I get better and really can work again? They drop my 100% and then I relapse. It is not completely impossible...so I will have handed back real compensable issues and am looking at years to get stable again. I missed SSD by 2 quarters. I'm terrified to go through the VA nightmare again.
  15. Before my 100% P&T the dentist was willing to pull several of my teeth but little more. After my rating they did a treatment plan that is estimated by a civilian dentist friend to be $32,000 worth of work: bone grafts, implants and crowns instead of removal. I love the surgeons doing my work. Top shelf senior residents
  16. Anna Karenina was beautiful. Lots of people walked out. It is not your typical period piece. It's Tom Stoppard at his best... ...an artistic wonder.

  17. It's a day of moments: Thought I'd never live to hear this one: "One Senior ticket for Anna Karenina?" I want this girl fired.

  18. Jeez. Hitchcock was a disappointment. The script was beneath both Genius Hopkins and Hitchcock. It was so full of MFA style conventions I fell asleep and didn't feel like I missed anything. Hopkins did a great job with what he was given. Good lord he's corpulent in this thing! He had to gain a minimum of 100 pounds for this. He'll be up for Best Actor but Lincoln has that one in the bag... Wait for the DVD... Zzzzzzzzzz...

  19. Congrats. What a relief this is, I'm sure!
