  1. My friend got out of the army Jan 27th, 1961. The VA sent him a letter saying the vietnam war did not start until Feb 28, 1961 which could be very true. This puts him out of the military 29 days before the vietnam war started. When we look on the internet we see several different dates of when vietnam really started. The reason this is so important is he is applying for aid and attendance. I know that you are the smarted people on the internet when it comes to these types of questions. So when did the vietnam war really start and is Feb 28, 1961 the correct date. If it is correct he won't appeal but if its not correct he will appeal. We respect your answers. Thank you Kris
  2. Berta and Jbasser; We could not find out were to try and log her in at to join hadit. Help in that area please
  3. Hi Hadit; There is a young women 44 yrs who just lost her husband (retired marine 21 yrs) to a heart attack 2 weeks ago. This marine did not have any SC problems. The deceased marine was recieving $1800 a month pension for retirement. Wendy (the wife) was told that she will not be able to collect any kind of pension from her deceased husband. Would this be correct. However Wendy and her children are allowed to keep the medical insurance. Is there some kind of VA rep she can talk to in person instead of over the telephone. Thank you Kris
  4. berta, My mother inlaw recieves over $900 a month from the va in retirement benefits and over $300 a month in Aid and attendence. I don't know if that is SBP because my spouse can not find the paperwork right now. Now as far as her VA medical it was dropped somehow when medicaid took over about 5 years ago. The reason she is coming to live with us is the place where she is staying is going up another $1000 a month and we can't afford to pay that money out of our pockets. She does not belong in a nursing home, nor could we do that to her. She does not get DIC. Ray who is the deceased retired veteran did not die from a SC illness. MY mother inlaw is 75 years old. thank you berta, kris
  5. Hi all, I know this isn't the right forum but maybe you could guide me in the right direction. My mother inlaw is coming to live with us. My father inlaw is deceased and was retired navy. My mother inlaw is disabled and for some reason she know longer has VA benefits for medical care through the VA. She pays for bluecross and medicare A and B. Just wanted to know if there is a forum that can give us some answers on why she was dropped from the medical program from the va. She does currently get aid and attendence ( alittle over $300 a month. Really I just need to know what benefits she would be entitled to as a Wife of a retired deceased veteran. My father inlaw had been deceased for 10 years. Thank you all You help me win my claim Kris
  6. Hi all; I saw my (DAV) SO they other day and she told me that 80 to 90% of vets get reviewed every year if they are TDIU vets. Ofcourse after trying to rest easy for almost 2 months this put the fear of the VA back in my face. I am PT no future exams but she saif that doesn't matter. I was turned down on my back claim with should of been a no brainer to the VA and my SO wants me to do an appeal. I could be wrong but what I have read on this site is if you are already 100% do not upset the apple cart and have the VA go back into your claims. Your words help me through my whole process and mean alot to me so any input would be helpful. Thank you for your time. Kris
  7. My SO and others have told me to file for 10,000 free life insurance. My first claim was 50% for panic attacks with depression accepted June 2006. I was just given 70%(100% Tdiu) april 2008. So that is within the two years, right? When I called the 800 life insurance number I was so confused when I got off the phone with the lady. I then went down to talk to someone about this $10,000 life insurance and the lady said she did not know if I qualified. So now I am asking you guys and gals how this works. And also what kind of forms would I fill out. Thank you Kris
  8. None of this really hit me until I read your posts. I just sobbed like a baby. You guys and gals on hadit are also the one that told me to file for SSD. I am sure you have been told this many times but for this veteran you help save my life and I mean that. The depression and memories that come along with the claims process were sometimes more than I could bare. It's important to know that you have veteran brothers and sisters that not only understand what your going through but do the thinking for you when you can't. Heck, you have even done the work for me when I didn't understand or I couldn't wrap my mind around what you trying to explain to me. And your still doing it. Thanks for having my back Kris
  9. Thanks you hadit for helping me win TDIU. First of all I think its a good time to tell the members here on hadit that I am a female veteran which I have never disclosed before because of trust issues. The trust issues were not with hadit members but I never knew if the regional offices looked at this site. My orginal claim was for MST. I had four major events happen within a 14 month period while in the military and I only reported the first one. After I reported my first MST all hell broke loose and altered my military career and life for ever. I was a very easy target for 3 other assualts after. I was just a young girl 21 years old at the time of my first assault and pretty much viewed the world through rose colored glasses before I joined the military and also the first year and half I was in the military. As some of you know from my past post when I filed for TDIU, my SO filed for PTSD when I was already SC 50% for MDD and panic attacks. I knew better because of what I read on hadit but I figured he knew what he was doing. Wrong. This SO also read my psych VA records in front of me until I was so uncomfortable I had to leave. I did not learn until later that my psych records were really none of his business. This same So also told me that with a gaf score of 38 I would never win my claim because a 38 gaf score meant my problems were congentital(sp) since birth and not from the military. I changed service officers this last january to a female SO. Best move I ever made. She wrote the VA on my behalf. My new service officer knew the SO I just left and said he did not belong in his position because he belived that women do not belong in the military to this day. I think it is important for all of you to know that I did not file a claim with the VA until 28 years after I got out of the military. Why? Because I did not know I was considered a veteran. I thought as many women do that a veteran was a male that was in combat. There are only 3 million people in the state I live in. Out of the 3 million people there are 24,000 female veterans that live in my state. The first female veteran summit was held in my state a few months ago. It was supposed to be huge, but only 160 female veterans showed up and alot of them were speakers. There were huge signs all over the place that said "WOMEN ARE VETERANS TOO". And alot of the topics were about how women do not know they are veterans. The reason that the summit turn out was so small was that there was not enough money in the VA budget to advertise and reach female veterans. I know that I am all over the place on this post. But I think it is important that you know why I did not file for 28 years. The VA Regional Office sent me to 5 cp exams in 6 months. I thank each and everyone of you for your knowledge, wisdom, and most of all your kindness and understanding of a veteran heart. You saved me many time through not only your words to me but your words to others. God Bless all of you on hadit and God speed on your claims. Kris P.S. I still do not know what 70% TDIU up to 100% means
  10. Ok I see cowgirl, yes the claims are there. Thank you for the reply
  11. Just a question on my C&P exam that I had for IU. On the first page of my cp report sent to the examiner in the General remarks area it says, Claims file being sent for review by the examiner. NOTE: OIF/OEF vetern- Expedited action required Original disability claim received within one year of military seperation. Could the last statement mean that they found paperwork on me filing a claim for my back. Thank you as always Kris
  12. Hi all; Just a few questions. I am 50% sc for Panic and Depression. I filed up on my claim last april 06 and my SO filed on PTSD which I know was wrong. Had 2 psych CP's in the last 6 months. CP Doctor was in my favor for me going up on my claim. Also filed Back and Neck claims which I injured in service in Mar 06. I had a CP on my back and neck Sept 06. CP doctor was also in my favor. Please explain if you can this phone call I got yesterday. A lady called me and said she was from the comp and Pension clinic and I am to come in this friday for another CP exam for IU. I asked her what the appt. was for and she said we are checking you out from head to toe. Here I go again why so many CP exams for the same thing. Is it because they do not like Doctors going in your favor. Thank you for your help. I am nervous again.
  13. Berta; I filed for IU back in april. I went to my local SSD office and they type a short letter that I could give to the VA. The letter says primary diagnosis of mutilevel cervical disc bulges, and secondary diagnosis of depressive disorder. I am sc for panic attacks and major depression. Will this letter do for depressive disorder. Thank you
  14. Thanks to all you on this board for telling me to file ssdi. I just got my award letter and it does not say on it what I am disabled for. I filed 9 different things. I am 50% sc for major depression and panic attacks and have a claim in for IU to go up on that. I also had back and neck injuries in service and filed a claim on those. My main question is how do I find out what I am disabled for. Thank you all so much Kris You have got to feel proud for helping so many veterans.
  15. Berta; I feel I covered all my bases. But could be wrong. Filed my first claim for PTSD in 2005. I was turned down not enough evidence. Stressor letters and letters from my family weren't enough. VA said I needed more proof of the events. Filed appeal latter part of 2005 and really went to work. Contacted CID and got proof of a murder. Which the VA had denied ever happened. Found one of my best friends that I had while in service. And he wrote a great buddy letter proving my stressors. I was then given 50% rating but not for PTSD as I have said within one month after my CP exam. Berta, I am only confused on why the VA wants me to write new stressor letters again, they have my stressor letters from 2005 when I started my first claim. Thank you for all your input and what you all do to help veterans. Kris
  16. Roger; I have been being treated for PTSD by the VA Doc's and I am dignosed with PTSD from my VA Doc's. However when I had my CP exam both last year and this year the CP Doc says I do not have PTSD. So my 50% is for Panic disorder and major depression and on this new exam the CP added generalized anxiety disorder. This is where I am confused myself because If the CP Doc keeps turning me down on PTSD why do I have to send my stressor letters again. Hope this made sence Kris
  17. The regional office called me today and said they need stressor letters again with time lines. I am 50% going for IU. I am very confused on why I have to do this over again. I sent the VA my stressors in 2005. I have been treated by the VA for well over two years for PTSD on almost a weekly basis and sometimes twice a week when I have classes. My first CP exam I had the doctor dignosed me with panic attacks and major depression. Gafs 40 and 43. He did not give me PTSD. I got 50% I had the same CP Doctor last month for a new exam and although I have been being seen for PTSD he again dignosed me with this time Generalized anxiety Disorder Gaf 35 Panic attacks Gaf 38 Major Depression Gaf 38 \ I told the gentleman that called me that the VA already had stressor letters from 2005. He said they didn't. I told him they were in my C-file. He said no that they just got my service records the other day. I know they had my Service Records already and the letters because I have a copy of my C-file, thanks to you guys. He said to write the letters again and that I could't send him copies of the letters from the first time around. This is were I need your help. When I first wrote my stresser letters in 2005 I had never seen my service records. When I wrote one of my stressors I had to go by memory of this event that happened 30 years before and I was off by 6 months. Is this going to hurt me with my claim when I correct the time line. Thank you Kris
  18. So I understand the claim process for IU I need to ask you what this means from Iris. Status of claim has been routed to VBA ----- office, comp & pension group. Also what does VBA mean. By the way I watch this board and you are all amazing. I have learned more from you all then from my SO. You are the one that have got me this far in my claims process. Thank you Kris
  19. Vike; Ok, I finally get it. Thank you all again.
  20. thank you for your replies. I applied for SSD in april and I should have listened to you guys when you told me to apply in Dec or Jan. You were all correct in what you said to me. I am however confused on the IU thing. What does 70% with IU mean? I am already 50% SC. thank you
  21. Im filing the IU form 1-8940 that the VA sent me. I applied for 3 different jobs in the last 6 months even though my doc told me I could not work. I never even went on any interviews. So do I list these jobs I applied for or do I just leave this area blank. My doctor knows I applied and told me to stop being in denial that I will never work again. Thank you P.S. I did look for the answer all over the hadit forum first but couldn't find it.
