  1. Even though this thread is old, here's my two cents. I've had USAA since 1972 and I see no bargains with them. I've had no accidents since the late 70's and their dismal dividend check of under $10 annually is a joke. Also, my car is over 13 years old. All I ever see is the rates keep going up and I have minimum coverage because my car is so old. I keep telling them when am I going to see something back for all those years. Like better rates. I've been thinking about getting rid of them, but the others are charging slightly more and say my car insurance rates will go down after a few years. I'm looking to pay less now not years down the road. They used to be good, but I think they're getting just like the others. Desperate. They never had to advertise on TV before. I think they're losing business or the competition is too great because their prices are not that much different from other insurance companies. At least from my experience they're no bargain anymore.
  2. I like the letter generator. I just discovered it recently even though I've been on eBenefits for a few months. I always hated calling the local VA office to request these letters. They probably got tired of sending them out. I wish I could get my Army records from eBenefits, but because I was discharged in 1982, all of those records are at the NPRC and it's like pulling teeth getting all my records from them. Fortunately the ones they won't give me I already had and scanned years ago.
  3. The VA may not have a copy of your DD214 on file. Believe it or not, sometimes they don't if you've been going to the VA prior to everything being electronic. I recently moved and had to switch over all my records from DC to PA and the PA VA in Pittsburgh told me I did not have a DD214 on file. I thought when I originally applied at the VAMC in DC, I gave them my DD214. Along with my medical records, I guess it got lost too. This may not be the case for you, but you might want to check with your local VAMC to ensure they have a copy of your DD214. I just recently downloaded those letters and had no problem with my information being on there. However, the local VA office had some errors in their files as I noticed on my benefits letter last year. I had to send them the corrected information. The local VA offices and the medical centers do not share the same information and are on different systems as I was told.
  4. I did it over the phone. I had to have my information handy like birth certificate, SS number, DD214, and other information. Then it took about a month to get my information in the mail. I asked if they wanted any of this information sent to them and they said no. I can't remember where I found the number for it. I think it was at the MyHealtheVet website, but now I can't find it.
  5. I've been getting the security message at eBenefits showing that the certificate is expired and I should close my browser. Being concerned about this, I sent a message to the website admins. Unfortunately I couldn't get it to send from the correct place so I had to send it from the comments which will probably be ignored. Since then, I discovered at the US Army website there's a fix for this and I thought I would pass this on. After installing the file "InstallRoot_v3.15A.exe", which I downloaded from that website, I no longer have this problem. You can find this fix at the following website: http://militarycac.com/dodcerts.htm Follow the directions on this page. I had to download the zip file then unzip and install because the other one didn't work. This problem apparently is not with the eBenefits website at all. As usual, it's an Internet Explorer 8 and 9 issue. Good old Microsoft. I always worry about security because I've been hacked several times.
  6. All of our records to be available via eBenefits without having to request via our service or through NPRC. For eBenefits to update their certificate. I keep getting error messages that it is out of date. I still ignore the messages, but it gives a feeling of insecurity especially with all the website hacking these days. For a government website, we shouldn't be getting these messages. Lastly: A place to change our passwords. I can't find it anywhere and I change all my 500+ password at least quarterly.
  7. My understanding is that MyHealtheVet has nothing to do with eBenefits. I have an account with MHV that I've had since it started and I still had to prove myself with eBenefits. Fortunately, I did it on the phone without having to go to my local VA office.
