Do Civilan doctors belief VA medical records. I get the feeling that nobody outside the VA don't belief anything from the VA. My doctor said he didn't want to see my records, which I am 100%PT since 2003 and wanted him to understand all my medical problems.

Another record to check is his "airman performance reports". Have him try to remember who he was with for a buddy letter.

If the 800 numbers are not for claim information what are they for? Just ask what grade these people are you find find they make big bucks and a lot of them are retired GIs.

I checked my cpac and it will not run on 12 volts. I will have to check about the inverter..Thanks

Does anybody know if you are required to have the use of a cpac machine can you write it off on your income tax the installation of a standby house generator? Or get the VA to pay for it?

This is maxwell, also in my question, I know I had 1 year to file to NOD, I was wondering how to re open a claim that was closed and still keep the earlest start date because of the later sleep apena test proving that in fact I did have sleep apena problems back to active duty. No sleep test was ordered, back, then I think sleep apena was over looked specially people on active duty. Could this be a case CUE? Thanks

Does anyone know how long you have to do a NOD or any other actions. My case is I claimed sleep apena back in 1998 and was denied. I had mentions of OSA, sleep problems, snoring, stop breathing while on active duty, all of this denied. After retirement, had a sleep study done 2005, servere sleep apena. I submitted this and the VA said it was not new evidence. Sleep study 2005 not new? By the way my heart stopped twice while in hosp for possible heart attach, ended up with pace maker. Any ideas? Thanks

This is maxwell, one thing I did learn is to use e mail with the va. They have 5 days to answer your e mail. It has worked for me lately, don't always get the information or answer you want. just a suggestion....

I am the person who started this thread, I want everybody to know I am NOT sticking up for the VA or anybody else. This situlation was so strange for me and is only informational maybe to help other Vets.

Just a followup, I don't know the periods I was paid for, all I got was the check which was wonderfull. But anybody expecting back pay maybe should check on it. I got the information off "Retired Officers Assc" that all back pay was paid, this was thursday last week. By the way I am retired enlisted but do get e mails from them. Very imformitve site.

I was reading a article on the internet about the VA just paid all back pay up to date,this was yesterday. I called the 800 number and the person said the check was mailed yesterday. I asked don't they direct deposit it? She said no for some reason they mailed it. Guess what I got it today the check $7524.00 for back pay CRDP. After about 30 phones calls to DFAS and the VA, many e mails and letters i got it.....Now I'm going to start on the rest of back for 100% ratings that were back dated making me 100% P&T and year earlier then the last claim date....

To add more info and answer some of the questions. He does not any docunmentaion from the ships log or deck logs. He has appealed all the say to DC. I have further researched and found he has a letter from the Ships Captain and he states he when a shore to Viet Nam many times doing his normal duties. This letter is dated signed and has a statement "he certifies" (the commander which was a 04 LT Commander.) To me with the Captains letter and it is very reasonable that the only PN admin person would handle the mail. This is one of things that really piss me off with the VA and not taking care of the Veterans.

I am helping a friend with this claim. He has done everything from a to z and still has not accomplished anything productive. He was stationed on the USS Current operating in savage operations 4/67 on the coast of Viet Nam. He was a PN3 and the ships mail man. On several occassions he was dispatched to shore, one time 30 miles in country to pickup the ships mail. No orders or paper work was cut as this was normal duty for him. He has four letters from shipmates, one the ships exo and a CWO4 and shipmates stateing that was in Viet Nam for normal duties (picking up the mail). He has filed claims to VA and all have been deined due no proof "foot steps on the grounds". He has severve health problems, DMII, Heart bypass and everything in between. A VSO signed him up for the HASS case but it now on a stay. Any ideas or suggestions would help. Thanks very much.

This is a subject that does not have a end. I used to worry about the 800 people getting mad at because I have wore thier butts out. I have wrote letters to congress people, VA, DFAS, and called many times. I still have claims pending, I am already at 100% P&T but they have not paid me for retro and back pay for awarding the 100% with earlier effective dates. They have been a total waste of time and rude and wanted treat me like a dumb shit. Yesterday I called did not get my Reginal Center (St Petersburgs) now we get connected to a call centers. I asked the same questions, she said write the VA, I said I did many times, she said you will be paid by Oct, I heard that before last year, she then said we are paying the 100% P&T first they deserve it. I said I am 100% P&T and then she started all over with the pragramed BS. I e mailed the Director Of VA a few days ago letting him know the 800 people are a waste. I also recommended that counsel's be set up at every VA clinics and locations where the volunteers can talk to anybody employees and customers. To meet once a month with the leaders of the clinics and have open discussion. I also said they should have real VA people at these locations that could call up your records and counselled the vet. I don't like the service organizations who can access your records and supposely help you? It took me over ten years to get to 100%P&T. Thanks Vet

I just hung up with a smart ass women at a VA call center. I was trying to call St Petersburg FL, as anytime I got connected to any center other then St Petersburg where my records are, they don't have hardly any information on the computer. She said all the centers will be consoldated to call centers. I asked will they have more information then they now have...NO. She would not let me talk, as she would not shut up and was very negative and rude. She acted like I had all the support and then some that I was going to get. (yes she got it done in 4 mins) I was the person that the VA called and I did talk to them over a hour, but as usual they did not even come near or even admitt what I wanted, just around and around just to clear the books that they called me. But I will not give up, it took me 10 years to get to 100% on my own. Thanks

I'm not really sure about this but I had back problems and had a C&P and the doctor failed to measure to range of motion in number of degrees. I wrote a letter asking was there a requirement for measurements? I had another C&P in another city as I moved . The results were very good for me, I got very good rating due to the measurements. The other thing they don't explain to you, you need to tell them when you start to have pain, don't even wait. Tell it like it is the worse day of your life.

To add some info, the guy from the va told me the ISIS was not for back and forth, but for some reason he hung in there talking to me. But he kept saying he already told me the answer to my question at the start of the phone call. That did not happen. I explained to him I wanted the answer to: 2005 rating 100% P&T BUT the effected date was 2004, should I receive back pay to the effective date?. Then he threw in the chap 35 stuff, the 2005 rating did grant chap 35. But it still did not address the earlier date.

I have been going around with the VA reference back pay for a 100% P&T rating made 4/2005, but the effective dates go back to 2003 and 2004 bring the 100% effective in 2004. I contacted the VA by e mail (after many letters and phone calls) got answers to everything except the earlier effective date. I replied to thier e mail and got a call this am asking what do i want. After over a hour, believe or not he still ask me what I wanted. He said you can be 60% P&T or any percentage between 100 % and down and be P&T? He then said you have to have chap 35 to get P&T so the earlier date don't mean any thing unless I was chap 35 the earlier date. I still don't understand when you get a earlier effective date you should be get the back pay. He was put out because I had so much communications with the VA on thier commputer. I told him if the VA would communicate instead all the deception and delay tatics we the veterans would get the proper customer service. He told me the 800 guys have 4 minutes to service the calls.
