Hello all- My name is James Jones, I go by JJ. I am a 24.5 year USAF vet currently 70%SC. I retired in 03, got my Masters degree and now work at the VA hospital in Phoenix. While on active duty I was a fighter jet crew chief and ultimately retired as an e-7. I kind of miss the flight line to tell you the truth. I loved the jets, worked with some great people. In August of 09 I was dx'd w/ recurrent, severe bladder cancer. Had that removed after about 4 surgeries. Thought I was good to go but kept getting sick, no energy, etc. Turns out three years later I had left kidney cancer all along. It was seeding my bladder. Now I have one kidney, no bladder, no prostate, and a urostomy. There is no family hx of cancer. I've done some research and found that benzene, a major component of Jet fuel is a serious carcinogen. I'm trying to get the nerve up to file another claim but it's hard. I joined this site for education, guidance and support. If I can help anybody i'd be glad to.
