I agree John. I didn't understand it either but that's what he told me. This happened to me and it took 10 months to fix and that was one of the excuses I got as to why it happened. I would check to make sure just to be safe.

I posted on here a couple days ago that one of the higher ups at my RO said people should double check and make sure their RO got their form because they are learning of lots of vets (up in the thousands) forms didn't make it into VAs computer system. He said when VA put "the new health care" (obama care) in their system, it kicked back thousands of vets forms. Now whether that's true or not, I don't know but anyone that sent in that form should make sure they have it in the system.

My RO said that VAs computer system was kicking back some of the questionare forms vets have sent in and they are just now being aware of it. They don't know why it's happening to just some vets and not all. Mine was put in 3 times and was kicked back every time. The guy I talked to said it may be a good idea for vets to double check and make sure they got the form. He said it wasn't just me this happened to this year and the numbers could be in the thousands. VA needs to get it together!! We suffer enough at the hands of VA and now have to worry about "their" computer problems too!

I just went through this myself with it taking 10 months to get mine fixed (which actually only took less than 24 hrs once I got ahold of the right person). I was going through American Legion but that ended up being a joke. This what you need to do...print out the form and fill it out and hand deliver it to your RO if at all possible. If you can't deliver it then I would fax it that way you have a time stamp (just to cover your own ass) then I'd make a copy and send it in by mail. Having a copy of mine with the fax time stamp on it is what saved me. Stay on top of it with your RO and make sure it gets in the computer.

Scout I'm sorry to hear of your current situation. Follow these guys advice. They will help you get where you need to be. Any win is a win with VA, so, congratulations on that! Don't give up! Thats what they want you to do! Stay strong and more so, stay positive!!!

I got the BBE (white) today. It says, we reinstated your 100% no examinations will be scheduled in the future for your permanent and total disabilities. Still waiting on the retro but will update when it's deposited.

Yeah, you're probably right! Hopefully it doesn't take long since it went to the treasury dept yesterday.

Thank you Shyne! It's been a long emotional battle and I'm glad it's over. It still doesn't seem real tho! I don't think the reality of it has kicked in.

I agree with Loose Cannon. Although I may not know everyone here at hadit personally, I still consider everyone my friends and the support you get here can make things so much easier. You earned the right to go to VA Medical Center and you should take advantage of it and get the treatment you need. I've met a lot of good veterans at my vamc that have become good friends of mine. You'd be surprised of the veterans that you'll meet that have a similarly to yourself. It help talking to people who can relate to you. Congrats again to you on your win!

Free.. I'm definitely going to take her somewhere nice and maybe get her hair done lol. She hasn't got to do that in a long time. I talked to Peggy today and she said the only thing I'm waiting on is for US Treasury to deposit it and it could be today tomorrow or any day but if its not there by a week in a half to call back. She told me to call the bank and let them know a large sum would be getting deposited cause sometimes a bank will kick it back so I called them too. I still haven't talked to AL. I'm not going to try calling them anymore though. I'm sure they got my messages and know by now what happened. And I hope this "learning experience" taught them something and if this ever happens to another veteran they will know how to fix it Quick! And if so, than maybe my suffering was worth it. I will always be the one on here every Nov and Dec reminding people to send in their yearly forms. I don't think I could have kept my sanity if it weren't for the people on this site. They shorted me 2 thousand dollars but I'm not going to say or do anything about it right now until after the money hits the bank. What I'm getting is enough to catch all my bills up and give my kids a nice Christmas and a little to help some family in need. Whats left is being put in my savings account since in completely drained now. Well...and I promised the wife a new couch. I think she's worth it so it's gonna feel good to take her to pick it out. Thank you Free, for everything!! You've always been so kind and understanding and always tried to help me figure this out.

I agree with that Loose! As soon as my money hits the bank I'm revoking them as my poa. This was a simple error that took less than 24 hrs for this guy to fix and I've went through pure hell these last 10 months along with my wife and kids. I lost 2/3 of the pay I was used to receiving for years so the bills I had took every dime and then some still weren't getting paid. We didn't receive any type of assistance, just toughed it out and gave up a lot of things we were used to having. I'll tell ya, it's hard having 3 kids living at home playing sports with no way for them to contact you but I couldn't take something away the sports love because they had already had to give up so much. I'm still mad over what happened and I want to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else. I haven't got to talk with AL since this has all been fixed but I'm afraid my wife might lose her cool with them cause she's been saying the whole time, they were doing something wrong but they insisted they were right and opening a new claim was the only way to fixing it. My wife is usually the one who keeps her cool and puts her trust in people cause she's a trustworthy person with a good heart and good intentions and we thought they were doing the best they could for us but it turns out...they weren't.

meg, you are the ideal vso that every veteran wishes or wants to have. I've always said, the bad makes people overlook the good and I know thats not fair to the good vso's like yourself. I myself, never got a call from my AL vso. The only person I ever spoke with was the secretary and I was always the one doing the calling. What happened to me could have been fixed a long time ago (according to RO) if someone would have just took a little interest in it. Good Vso's need more recognition than they get for the work they do and maybe the lazy ones will try to do better. My local AL is a state run office and unfortunately I think its just a job for them with no heart involved in their work. Only there for a pay check. The last guy I had there was awesome when it came to helping vets. I just wish the newer guy was more like the older. With all the negative talk about vso's I'm sure it gets frustrating for the good ones to read or hear about it so to you meg, I say, thank you for your hard work and all you do for our fellow veterans!!!

I tried calling AL all day today to tell them a update on my stuff but never got a answer. Its a good thing I went out and faxed the form myself cause I'd probably be waiting another 10 months if I would have waited on them for help!!

Loose Cannon, I'd love to find out the answer to that. This has cause so many problems its unreal. In the past 10 months weve had our power water and phone disconnected. On the verge of foreclosure on our house. Almost lost our car. Had to postpone one of the kids surgery. My oldest son had to drop out of college. Went without food at times and just basically anything you could think of. The sad thing is, I couldn't get any answers and was told to just sit tight. I hope this never happens to another veteran again! I know one thing, I'll always send in a employment questionnaire till I die!

Update... The guy from the RO called again to tell me everything was completed today. A lady called telling me she was doing the final work for the retro pay and it would be deposited today. Its not showing in mu acct yet but I'll check back in the morning. I went on ebenefits and the claim I had is now in the historical claims part as completed. My ab8 shows pay as 100% again. Whats funny about it is, I won that claim too but it was still in pending decision and was stuck there. The guy that helped me doesn't usually answer phones but just decided to. A weird thing was, the lady that called me from VA ended up having the same first and last name as my wife and her husband is a distant cousin of mine but I've never met him. I've prayed hard for this and I'm thankful for Gods blessing!

Just got a phone call from the guy at the RO. He said he was calling to tell me everything is fixed! He took my proof of fax and gave it to the right people and it on the top of the list in the priority box. Said, he couldn't promise it would be done today because of the time but its possible it could be. I've still never talked with my local AL today. I guess they took the day off for a snow day....

Unfortunately I listened to the AL over my own gut feelings. I asked many of times why they put in a new claim for IU but never really got a answer other than, thats just what we have to do. But at the same time their telling me this is a learning experience for them. What they should of said was, we don't know what the h*ll were doing!!

I'm not going to go the congressional route. This guy seems to be wanting to take care of it for me so I'm going to put my faith and trust in him. I'm taking with me all 3 forms I've filled out with the time stamps on them. He (Tom) said if the VA would of got that form months ago it would have already been fixed cause thats all they needed. He used to work in my local AL office years ago until he got promoted and now works at the RO. He was the one who helped me get my IU years ago. He said, somebody has some explaining to do cause what happened to me was bs and they knew that form was the only thing needed to fix it so why they opened up a new claim for IU was confusing to him. I'm just glad I finally got somebody willing to help me cause the local office has caused more problems than anything else. He said for now on he will be working directly with me until its fixed so that takes a huge weight off my shoulders.
