  1. ok thanks guys, i'm going to contact them and get a written reply just in case. VA doesn't surprise me with some of the decisions they make so I'm going to try and cover myself.
  2. I'm kinda freaking out as I just found a small deposit from my previous employer. To make a long story short, I stopped working early last year but was still on the books (Government Employee). I was approved for TDIU in March of this year and was technically terminated from my agency on the last day of June. Now I get a deposit of $7.00 in my account. I didn't work and I can only guess that this was left over leave but it's still going to show as earned income on my W2. Should I be worried? I read that another vet had received threats of TDIU removal after he recevied 10 cents years after he last work from his previous employer.
  3. Thanks guys, good info. Looks like I'll be getting one of those forms next year. Hopefully I don't get screwed because I sold a baseball card because I needed the money while waiting for TDIU to get approved. Maybe i'm just nervous because i'm new to this thing.
  4. I read some articles saying they don't send those out anymore. My VSO also said the same. I guess we can still send it in though if we want right?
  5. This is an interesting topic for me cause I was just awarded TDIU. The way I always understood it from other posters is that rental income is unearned income/investment income therefore you didn't actually work to obtain that and would not count when the VA cross checks with Social Security just as long as it's reported on your tax filing as investment income and not earned income. I sold a baseball card earlier this year and i have a few baseball cards from my collection that i'm currently selling so I hope i'm right on this. I just don't think you should be forced to save money by leaving your extra funds in a checking/savings account or stashing it underneath your mattress. Inflation would just eat it away. Doesn't make sense to me. Maybe somebody else can chime in?
  6. Yikes you got approved in August and are still waiting for it to go into effect? I just got approved and thought it would go into effect next month but this thread has me wondering.
  7. I think I got 100% TDIU P&T. My claim closed and I checked tonight and it had a commissary letter saying I was being paid at 100% and no future exams needed. My benefits letter has the 100% rate but my rating still at 70%. I feel pretty relieved at this point as I worried this would drag out. I really want to thank the people on this board. I don't know my butt from a hole in the ground when it comes to this but this forum is invaluable. Needless to say i'm pretty numb.
  8. I'll have to go and get one done. So I looked at my C&P info and it has me down for major depressive and also TBI (which is not service connected yet) however it stats that it is hard to correlate symptoms to one or the other: "Due to the overlap of symptoms, it is not possible to differentiate the relative contribution of each disorder on the Vet's functioning, without resorting to speculation" Does that hurt my claim at all? I know i'm depressed, I know I got major cognitive problems and problems remember. I have to dig up my service records to find my TBI info but as it stands now I wonder if considering the above statement if that would effect my claim?
  9. I just saw a Request 2 from the VA in which they need medical information from SSA from my disability decision. I find this kind of laughable considering it was the SSA that used info from the VA to deny my claim which is now under appeal and waiting for a hearing. I still don't know why I was denied since the SSA letter states dates from documents that don't match any documents that I have or am aware of. Should I visit the SSA office and ask for any and all records used to determine my case so that I can upload them into va.gov? I read that it can take a long time for the VA to receive anything from SSA.
  10. I read somewhere the other day where a guy who worked as a rater said that filing new claims on top of claims already in progress slows things down. I tried to find the link but could not.
  11. I'm definitely taking my paperwork with me. I know the DAV uploaded everything but I don't want to take any chances so i'm taking my file and handing it directly to the examiner. I'm going to try and remain optimistic throughout this process.
  12. Hey guys, so I went through the DMV to file my TDIU and they sent it last month on the 10th and now I just find out that my c&p is on January 17th. That was really fast. Should I be concerned that it only took a month to get an appointment?
  13. Ok that will be at the top of my to do list for next week. I'll check with my county VR first since I think the VA VR lady is still out. I'll probably be using this thread for some support. Thanks!
  14. I'm 70% with Major Depression and Anxiety. Also TBI which has not been rated yet.
  15. Ok, i'll call over there on Monday and get some info. Wow that VR counselor sounds whacked. Almost like she took it as a slap to the face. Was that the VA VR or county VR? Thanks for the info guys. I stopped by DAV this week and talked to a rep there and he got me into the system and gave me some forms for my employers to fill out so that'll be my next step. Hopefully they don't just sit on it.
  16. The lady who does the voc rehab is out on maternity leave. Not sure when she'll be back. So would they send me to a doctor to see if i'm compatible with voc rehab?
  17. Thanks Ddsr, I'll try. However I did get a schedule A letter done in September 2017 by my county VR office that might effect my ability to get a VR feasibility letter, I don't know. I don't think the VA voc rehab is going to be of any help.
  18. Congrats AFV, that was pretty fast. I'm currently 70% depression/anxiety with TBI diagnosed but no claim filed for yet. I'll be filing for TDIU soon but am worried it will be a long drawn out process. Any tips to help win and speed up the process?
  19. Hey L, Would that be Dr. Brett Valette that did your IMO? I'm just now trying to put in my claim for TDIU. I'm 70% for depression/anxiety. I just got diagnosed by the VA with TBI several months ago which I need to get SC'd for. I'm out of work since March and I just got denied SSDI because of my age/education (Bachelor's degree) and because they state I can do routine non complex work. I worry this might effect my TDIU claim. So, I need a doc to do an IMO to help my case. Also, anybody know of any lawyers that take VA claims on from the get go or are they all only willing to work for you after you have been denied?
  20. Thanks Guys. I'm very very grateful. I've had my ups and downs with the VA, but I would say the majority has been positive so far. I hope to help anybody on here any way I can if they need it.
  21. Well I got the page that says "what we decided" and there's three colums with the issue's/contentions, percent assignment and effective date and underneath that it says explanation. I've got all my issues listed with just the one percentage of 70% in the second column. Now I know I got 50% for PTSD because when I was at work last Wednesday, I went into apply for benefits and several pages in it listed my issues but I only saw 50% for PTSD and 70% overall, so i'm interested in finding out what makes up the rest of the 20%. I'm going to call them tommorow and if they don't mail me out the pages i'm missing i'm just going to drive the 2 hours and get it myself.
  22. I'm going to call them tommorow and see if I can have the pages missing mailed to me. I'd rather not drive 2 hours to the RO, but if they don't mail it to me I will. Broncovet, So I just wanna get this right. If I submitted my claim in September of 13 as a FDC and with the retro going back 1 year prior due to the VA program they set up and therefore my effective date being Sep 12. Does that mean the clock starts ticking Sep 12 or the time when I actually submitted the claim, Sep 13. On the letter it states my effective date is Sep 12 so I assume it starts from there but I just want to make sure since I don't think the VA has ever done anything like this before.
  23. Thanks, i'm relatively new to dealing with the VA (less than a year) so it's good to come here and get advice/info from seasoned va vets. I'm just going to treat each month's pay as a bonus and put it into an emergency fund. I'm just glad this claim process is over and I got an overall rating that is pretty much accurate to how I feel.
  24. and not a big brown envelope but from what I understand it doesn't matter. However on my notification letter it gives me the combined rating and all the disabilities but it doesn't mention the disability rating for each. Also I don't see any mention of permanent or any mention of re evaluations or anything. There's also no mention of the back pay amount. The have the effective dates and the rates and I can figure it out on my own but i'd thought they'd have a total figure on there. It was just six pages and that's it. Am I supposed to be getting another package of information? I can't go into Ebenefits because I can't register because i'm not in deers which is weird because i'm a vet and now working as a DOD civilian so I got to wait until I get back to work later next week so I can use my CAC card. I just want to know what my individual ratings are.
